Onpoint Good work!

Was dyno tuned last year and shortly after had to replace my actual supercharger unit.

This year, with a replacement unit installed I am seeing frequent check engine lights, some related to cat due to headers and one that was sensor related and probably a mechanical issue. Anyway I set an appt with Sasha at Onpoint to switch off any cat related codes caused by my headers and he recommended possibly a 1 hour road tune.

In preparation I cleaned my MAF which it turned out was filthy from oil from a leaky oil cooler I had used. It appears the MAF cleaning solved the mystery code, there was an improvement in responsiveness immediately after when I drove the car too.

Sasha noted the calibrations for the car had changed quite a bit vs last year, and the car ran smooth. He said there was an area it leaned out but not dangerously. I will look for leaks at the header, overpipe etc this week. No harm tightening after 3 years or so.

The car now drives WAY better. Ten times more responsive. Worth the time and relatively minor expense compared to the original dyno tune.

Consider if you tune might need an hour or so touch up, mine made a huge difference.

Sacha is great, i have not heard a bad thing about Sacha from anyone. How much was the initial tune and how much was a touch up? And where did you guys meet? Because when I inquired about a tune last year he was only doing mobile. I ended up going with someone else because of the price. I'm sure Sacha could get more out of my numbers, but it was a little over my budget.

Tuning is one of those things where its worth paying more money for the best. It could literally be the difference between blowing your motor and not.

I found Sasha's rate completely reasonable. I think it costed me $500 ish for a complete custom SC tune which was roughly 3-4 hours of tuning.

I would have 100% went with him if it was less thethe,n $800, I got quoted $1200 for everything that includes ecutek, his base tune, the tunning time. And then I had to get a shop to let us tune at their place.

I think last year for dyno time, Ecutek license, and roughly 2 hours tune done at a shop in Newmarket the cost was just under $1500. incl tax. That included a 3 bar MAP sensor as well. I understand Neetronics charges similar rates.

The road tune update was roughly $200 tax and all for ~1.5 hours.
To me getting an update on the tune is like getting an alignment done, you dont want to wait until you REALLY need it.

Note: Funny how you learn to accept things when you have no basis for comparison.

The way my car runs, even with AC running full blast and 30C weather stop and go in the city is like NIGHT and DAY compared to before. I now feel all the trouble and expense supercharging my car was worth it...finally. Before I always felt deep down it wasn't quite as it should be.

I totally agree, just make sure you go to a reputable tuner to do any of your tuning unless you want headache down the road.
