By the way.. If you can't locate the receipts, ask what exactly happened to the engine.. If they can't prove it was caused by oil, then keep bugging them.. They'll come around. I saw some guy on reddit have the same issue and he hadnt done his oil change for 13k miles.. They almost denied the warranty repair for it but after keeping at it, they repaired it. I think he just showed previous receipts of the oil changes being done when required.

If you had the oil changes done anywhere that tracks you as a customer then they might be able to give you records of you being in. As far as the oil changes you did yourself, where did you buy the oil and filters? If it was online you might have the receipt in your email? If not online did you use a credit card or debit card, you can pull up old statements online.

I wouldn't fake receipts. Fraud is generally frowned upon.

OMG OP! The paper trail... you're fucked! You're practically conspiring to commit fraud, which is illegal on its own. And now everyone quoted you so even if you changed your post the evidence will remain. Might as well turn yourself in now. Dibs on part out

DANG! ... @The_Thirrd how many times did we tell you to always keep receipts or a record of your oil changes...

OK, so you didn't ........ what to do......??

If you cannot find any records of service or receipts for purchase of oil and filters by following leads as mentioned up above, I would suggest you record in a notebook, what, when and where you purchased the oil and filters and when and where you changed the oil and filter.

If you had it done, record when and where the services were performed.

Hopefully, that will suffice.

..... now, don't fail to do that again!

I tend to do the changes myself or at a local garage so if I ran into a similar issue I couldn't provide receipts with date and mileage but I ALWAYS buy the filter from a Subaru dealer and never more than a day before the change is done. That way I figure they at least can dig up a record of that and see the date. Other than a stretch where the car didn't get used much due to unemployment the intervals have been pretty consistent at about 10 weeks between changes.

Good tip I read on here was to take a date stamped picture of the oil receipt beside your odometer reading. Pretty hard to dispute and you have less chance of losing it.
