I just had my short block replaced along with a few other parts under warranty. If your car hasn't obviously been modified(or in my case the opposite) they SHOULD cover it. My header bolts would have come off easy and the gaskets are fresh... Anyone with any sense would know that headers had been installed and the stock ones put back on. No questions were asked and I never paid a cent. Of course headers couldn't have spun a bearing but I could see them saying so

Up to this car I have never heard of so many engines replaced, alot of them stock. WTF back in the day if your cars engine was replaced under waranty that made the news, now it's a revolving door of engine and tranny replacements. Look at the mess Jeep got into with its transmissions, many just days of being bought. I think QAQC has left the building!

Correct me if I'm wrong but seems to me like it's mainly 2013 versions. Which isn't too surprising since it was a brand new engine and there's always expected issues with brand new things. |

No you're right. Mines a 13. The early engines had a few problems like oil starvation. I don't believe it's that uncommon

Great mines a 13. 53k on it
Thats okay, Im down with a new engine though I can honestly say, I've not had one problem from mine, but I've only had it 10 months Not sure I could roll the dice on speculation of Toyota telling me we'll tear it apart for 3k to see if its covered. So if its covered fine, you're out nothing but if not, you are out 3k plus a new engine .

Yeah, I agree. But then again if the owner did nothing wrong to cause the engine to fail, then I would definitely tell them to open the engine up (as they did with mine) since that's really your only option if you want it covered by Toyota. If you don't agree on them tearing it open then they can't diagnose what's wrong and can't pay for the fix (dumb in my opinion but I guess that's how it has to be) |

Cheaper maybe 9/10 times if you go to the dealer or places like jiffy lube. Plus it gives you that piece of mind that somebody isn't messing w/ your car. My adviser was really flexible to work with. I just literally brought in credit card statements and high lighted everything that said auto zone or had anything remotely to do w/ car parts and they approved it. |

UPDATE:
So my car has been at the dealership since Monday service dept. Is closed on Sundays. Still no word from them if they will cover the repairs or not. I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing that I haven't gotten a call. |

Probably a good thing.. Means they're probably having a Toyota Rep go to the dealership to see the engine and say if it'll be covered or not |

Mine was at the dealer for a month. Yours will take much less time but still more than a couple days. Be patient

UPDATE:
I just got a call and they said they would take care of all costs..IF I can provide receipts of all oil changes. Which I can't. I did 2 myself and don't have the receipts of the others. Should I just fake the other receipts? |

Where did you buy the oil? If it's from some auto parts store, they may be able to find the receipts online. |
