The day the BRZ STi is announced is the day I sell my BRZ.

The cars' value will probably drop harder than the Focus ST did when the RS stepped onto American soil

It's been discussed for years if we'll ever even sniff a factory turbo on this car. Will we get what we want? Maybe, but probably not. If they're serious about bringing the STi to the BRZ it'll probably be only in the form of aesthetic bits and pieces as a "series.whatever". That's just my guess.

I won't reiterate the facts of the car being what it already is. I just think waiting for the unicorn is a waste of time when I can have my immediate and temporary fun now. If it comes out, I'm not gonna be kickin' myself for not waiting. I will get it one way or another if it is a must have. If say the true next gen BRZ rolls around and it's still NA, I'm not going to be disappointed either. I only expect Subaru to make improvements based on feedback anyways. Something better is always gonna be on the horizon for any product you buy in life. So get it now or get it later, no difference to me. Win-win for all

I thought about waiting for a STi years ago, and I'm very happy that I bought my Monogram in 2014. I think MY17 owners should just prepare themselves, because there is probably another 4 years for unique and special models to be announced.

I think at the very least, they will offer a BRZ tS in the states. They would be silly not to IMO.

Is the Focus ST value already starting to sink? Maybe I can pick up one for cheap in a couple years...

The Focus ST resale value dropped hard the instant you bought it lmao. My wife and I got a '13 Focus ST, fully loaded for just under 30k. Out of curiosity, we checked what the vehicle was worth 3 months later... 21k. Never again.

On another note, if Subaru ever does release a PROPER BRZ STI (not holding my breath), I would seriously consider getting rid of my STI for it.

Yup!

My coworker has an ST, and he was pondering selling it just before the RS released. When the RS was released, the value of an ST3 (w/recaro's) dropped 2k in the eyes of most internet sites. I.E - KBB, Edmunds, ect...

Needless to say my coworker isn't very happy anymore...

That makes no sense at all. The handful of RSs that were available should not have caused a huge influx of used STs to hit the market and lower prices. Hell they probably sell more ST a week then they made RSs.

Logic doesn't enter into it. It's all based on speculation and knee-jerk reactions, just like the stock market. A newer better one just came out, so clearly that means the older less good ones are now worth less. Never mind the number disparity and non-availability of the special edition.

Ya I know. Still doesn't make sense though. Almost scammy really.

Witness the front end of the MY17 Toyota 86. Huge mistake.

If you believe this source (http://response.jp/article/2016/08/16/280170.html) - word has it that Subaru will be going with 1.5L turbo+hybrid engine, and the STI model will be part of the line-up as well. Debut is anticipated to be October 2019 at the Tokyo Show as a MY 2020 model.

So don't hold your breath

How long has Subaru Canada had the 2017 page up? Curious as to why the US site still has not updated from the 2016 model page with deliveries seemingly imminent.

Iirc the US site has always been slow to update, my guess is it should flip after Labor Day. For us in the USA.i think the Canadian site was changed just a couple of weeks ago.

I find it nerve-racking the front STi lip isn't available yet. I don't feel comfortable driving off the lot without that lip to prevent scraping. I definitely don't want them to try and force the '16 lip on if it's not the proper fitment either. Why are you so slow Subaru? 😞
