Hey guys, just made an account here.

The video OP linked on YouTube saying that his car sounds like it was uploaded by me. That's my car. I hadn't made a post about it but it is now time to make one and ask for advice. I will be starting a new thread in about 5 minutes about my engine problem so please be on the lookout.

As for OP, if it's the same sound you hear in your car as mine, then I'm sorry to tell you that you have a bent Engine Rod. Depending on your dealership though, it could be (should be imo) covered by warranty. Again, I will be making a post about my whole situation (been without the car for 7 1/2 weeks now) to see if I can get any help and hopefully maybe help you and other people having this issue with their car.

Best of luck!

I went thru a similar problem w/ mine. My dealer warrantied my motor even w/ the aftermarket intake and header on there. Mine was just over 43k when it happened. So you may be in luck. Just hope you have your oil change receipts handy. They'll ask for those.

Sorry guys I haven't posted an update. I've been busy with work and other BS.
So I just dropped off the car at the Dealership just now, they said they would let me know what the issue is by the end of today or tomorrow the latest. Hopefully its all covered under the factory warranty. Wish me luck

Honestly i'm 90% sure it'll be a bent rod if it sounds like mine.. But if you're the first owner of the car and there haven't been issues before like this or anything, it should be covered under warranty

Yes I have.. It's long now, about 10 pages. Just posted an update today though.. Look at it, it's called "Engine Rod #3 bent" or something like that.. I forgot the title..

But how many miles on your car?

If it's at 43,000 then it's still under Toyota's Powertrain warranty.

UPDATE:
Got a call today from the dealership. Said the motor is done for. Said that in order to properly diagnose what happend they needed to take the block apart. They would send pictures to toyota and if they choose to cover it I wouldn't pay a dime BUT.. if they say they won't cover it I'd have to pay $3,100 to take the block apart diagnose and put the block back together.
I asked him for his honest opinion if he thought that they would cover it. His reply was "I've seen them Cover worse" so I gave the okay. I'll get a call tomorrow with the results.

Similar to what I was told when they were trying to diagnose mine.. But $3,100? They were only going to charge me $1,000 for opening up the engine to diagnose the issue. I guess they're saying $3,100 in case it's something that can just be replaced and put back together but I'm getting a brand new engine in my car. Hopefully all goes well though.

Keep receipts of the oil and filter and take pictures of new filter and oil installed with current mileage on car and that should be good enough proof of oil changes.

Disadvantages, time, recycle, mess and time. I used to do it but I'd rather just pay for it to be done.

Even this seems excessive to me but certainly doesn't hurt. You can't be too careful with the dealership
