Reflections

As you can tell, most of my work thus far is cosmetic. I guess I want to really grow as a driver along with the car - at the time of writing this, I've had the machine for 8 months and prior to picking up the car I had zero experience driving manual. Stalling all the way home from the dealership is definitely one of my fondest moments with her.

I feel I'm not at the point where I deserve to play the numbers game regarding power, nor do I feel the urge to go forced induction. I can see where others are coming from regarding the desire for more power and I totally respect that viewpoint but it's not the path I'm looking to take for myself.

In saying all that, I do want to smooth out the torque curve and take a naturally aspirated FA20 as far as it can go (within reason). I know it's a lot of money for very little gain but I feel the car will be truer to me that way.

I'm a big believer in nothing but genuine parts, however I don't look down upon people who run replicas. My outlook is if people had the means, they'd support the companies that do the extensive R&D - they're just not in a position to do so at this current point in time.

TL;DR - Found a lifelong friend in my car and I'm looking forward to growing alongside her and documenting the progress to share with you all

Very nice... you are off to a good start on your build... The Varis Arising aero kit is in my opinion the best looking kit available for the 86...great choice! Looking forward to more updates!

Thanks for the kind words Zeal! I've been a long time fan and admirer of yours and it's an honor to have you drop in on the thread ^_^!

Hopefully I can start filling her up with more substance like yours sometime soon - driver modding might be required first though haha

Aww you ditched the giant nur spec wing!?

Good stuff to want to build as a driver more! Too many people start by building power first and then skill. Any plans for more power though?

I was thinking about your Varis Arising aero kit... I can't recall seeing one installed on a factory blue 86...I know there are probably some out there I just can't recall any. Huh...I guess that makes your 86 a bit more unique.

Haha, the nur spec wing is a bit more common over here in Australia so I wanted to set her apart from the rest a bit. In the most populated state where I reside there's only five Voltex Type 2 wings XD

I'm at the stage where I'm starting to really enjoy her properly with the rev matching and heel-toe techniques so hopefully soon I'll know what more I want from her in terms of performance. Being new to the hobby, I don't quite have extensive mechanical knowledge but I think I want to be a bit different and pour resources into an NA build to see if I can at least keep up with a Stage 1 forced induction set up.

There are multiple touge type roads all within a 25 minute drive that are full of hair pins, blind corners and width for only one car at times and on a spirited drive just a bit more torque would be nice

Yeah I think there are a couple of wide bodies floating around but I can't recall one that just runs normal size. With the modification laws in Australia being quite strict, wide body isn't really an option anyways
