Reading that, I immediately recalled the video clip at 7:00 in this compilation [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqtge929HNA"][US ONLY] US CAR CRASH/ROAD RAGE COMPILATION #40 - YouTube[/ame] It's in Alabama, I think, but I guess it's sort of similar to Georgia (I never drove in either). Now what is most telling is the reaction of people in the camera car. They only talk about the Taurus driver. Yes, he drives very recklessly. I don't know if he's just an impatient idiot, or on drugs, or desperate because his loved one is dying in a hospital and he's trying to get there to say good bye. Either way, a sane person (that is, me ) would just let him through. Becauses he is likely to crash, so he better does it not on my rear bumper. And because he might have a genuine reason to go fast, so why be a jerk and prevent him from doing so.But the red SUV keeps purposefully blocking him, being a jerk and participating in the reckless behavior. Nobody in the cam car comments on that, suggesting they think it's OK. The Taurus driver was reckless, but the SUV driver contributed to the ensuing crash, maybe not legally, but definitely morally. |

Most of the time it's zero problem, one less body impeding me from reaching my destination, good deal.
Stupid people do stupid things regardless of the regulations. I don't think I'd have the balls to do it, I'm a klutz on a motorbike, but I'm not so self centered as to deny the advantages of the bike. It really is no skin off the drivers back if they are as aware as they should be when piloting a 2-ton projectile of death and the motorcyclist rides responsibly. |

There have been days in Atlanta when I was riding/commuting in the summer when I thought I was going to literally pass out when I got stuck in traffic on I-285. I eventually had to pick a "MAX TEMP FOR RIDE" because that was a better trade off than not being protected.

I know it is somewhat of a compromise, but I always wore a jacket with a removable liner and a mesh outer. So it had elbow, shoulder, chest and back padding, but when you remove the liner it at least provided airflow. I rode everyday when I lived in the southwest. Obviously it is a compromise, but it worked well for me.

My cutoff for riding is about 100°F. I rock an evaporative cooling vest in my jacket which keeps me cool enough for my hour commute home for anything in the upper 90s.

July/August it's pretty common for us to be in the mid to upper 90s with 110% humidity. Of course the temp on the pavement is usually about 20 degrees above that.
