From personal experience, does anyone know if one is louder than the other? Are there any performance differences?

Newbie to the forums; previous GTI owner.

The dual is quite loud, haven't compared it to the single exit because I no longer have it, here is a video of it on my car:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwskPf8W4TI"]exhaust clips - YouTube[/ame]

The only noticeable performance difference you'll get is 12 lbs off the rear end. But my personal review, is that it does drone quite badly in a very specific rpm range around 1800-2600 rpm, then it suddenly stops droning it sounds absolutely beautiful going full throttle or gradual acceleration and will pop and crackle at will sometimes. Also cold starts are louder than it should be unless you edit your tune to get rid of the loud cold starts (I did that and it sounded awesome on start). With respect to putting the axle-back on and off single vs dual, it's quite easy you just need a breaker bar, pb blaster and a exhaust hanger removal tool, it will take less than an hour with the rear end jacked up a bit for ease of install. Most of the time is spent removing the OEM muffler, that will take the largest portion of time.

Did you end up buying the Berk? I have a 2016 also and berk won't get back to me as to if the dual tip is compatible with our cars. The website only goes to 2015 but there hasn't been any alters with the exhaust system to my knowledge..

I got a Berk dual a couple months ago. I did the install in the parking lot of a restaurant where I met the seller. It took 5 minutes. It really is the easiest mod you can do. WD40, a screwdriver and a ratchet (I can't remember the nut size) and that's all you need.

It is loud. I have the stock header and second cat delete and it's very loud. The drone on the highway wasn't fun, so I got a cherry bomb and had it welded into the mid pipe and now there's no drone and it's only loud when I get on it.

IMHO dual looks best (I don't like an empty hole on one side of the bumper)

any concern about underbody aerodynamics in removing that suitcase muffler? i would mostly be concerned that air at high speed would cause the rear bumper to flop around.

No. If it did flop around maybe a diffuser would help secure it down but i don't see that happening
