Car goes in the garage against the left wall as to provide more room for less door dings. Hard to get out if it isn't backwards. That and it makes me feel like one of the "cool" kids. |

More is always better. I couldn't resist. Have a nice nap. Time for my Northbound I-5 slog.

Yup. The commute isn't bad unless somebody does something stupid. It's actually pretty rare.

Mine now shuts in the wind or on hills, but not yet on flat ground. After reading this thread, I just went out and took a look at it, and I noticed that there was a little piled up line of plastic dust on it from where the damned thing has been wearing itself down. So even if I replace it, it looks like it'll just fuck itself all over again.
On the plus side, it doesn't look like it would be difficult at all to junk that stupid plastic garbage and replace it with a drilled and notched steel bar. Yay. Another project for my vast amounts of spare time. Maybe I'll post a DIY in a couple of years when I finally get around to doing it. |

I get Shaky's point. I'll be dead long before I ever finish my project list. :/
Gotta choose your battles.

I have a 2000 Cherokee that's stuck halfway through the project stage. It has a stroker installed, but the new axles are sitting out in my garage waiting to be set up for welding on new perches. The lift and frame stiffeners haven't been ordered yet, but I have new steel bumpers that need paint and prep for installation and tying into the frame rails. I also have a winch, onboard welder, dual battery setup and onboard air compressor that need to be installed, plus a new set of battery mains made of welding cable to power all that. I also have a completely new air conditioning system that needs to be installed before I can use it for work, since it wouldn't do to show up in a client's office soaked in sweat in the Texas heat. For the BRZ, I have a set of Hella Supertones, padded speaker surrounds, Homelink mirror, oil pressure gauge, radar detector remote face and an onboard camera that all require permanent installation. Soon it's going to need a brake job, so I figured that would be an opportune moment to install some lowering springs since it looks a little odd now with the 18" rims at stock height. I need the BRZ readily accessible for work transportation until the Jeep is ready, so I can't take anything apart until I know I have enough time to finish it. The BRZ was supposed to be my "non project" vehicle for use as a daily driver. Yeah, right. I need the Gladiator roadworthy and ready for use as a rescue vehicle when I cut the suspension brackets off the Cherokee. I'm not sure where the door check bar fits in all of that. I'm thinking I may go at it when I have the door panels off to install the pads, since I also want to run some power into that door while I'm in there also. A normal week for me is 60 hours, usually away from home. I log at least 150 nights per year in hotels. You don't realize how much time laundry, yardwork and regular errands take up when you can't do any of it during the week. So I figure 2 years before I get to this. Maybe. |
