The changes all seem good but if you already own the car I don't see a point in upgrading, the extra money you end up spending you could have just put towards mods.

Does anyone know what these new taillights look like lighted up? I'm curious, they are starting to grow on me

What's is that control in the center where the seat warmers are normally?

It is most likely a control knob for the head unit. Could be there for use during the track session or part of a trim package specific to Japan.

Need pricing info now! Some of the '16s around here have dropped dramatically in asking price on the dealer lots. I'm assuming $27,000 ish after destination, which starts to make the decision quite hard.

I'm actually really glad that they didn't make the car that different. It kinda would've been a slap in the face to all previous gen owners, like they were saying "Hey guys! Thanks for beta testing the car for the past 4 years. Now we've finally made a new version which has a lot of the things you've been asking for! Get 'em while they're hot! Oh yeah btw, you can't return your current car since you modded it trying to actually make it what it was supposed to be. Screw you."

I also hope the new gen owners don't get some sort of superiority complex going.

I guess it's a good refresh for people who haven't bought a 1st get yet. But given that journalists have been commenting that the two generations feel similar to drive, I can't see many current owners trading in.
What Japanese sports car EVER got a mid-cycle refresh that was worth a damn? They are always extremely incremental until they put out a true next-gen car. Hell even sometimes the next gen car isn't all that big a deal (looking at you Nissan).

All I can think of was S2000 AP1-AP2 came with noticeable changes, and the RX-8 got an engine that didn't grenade itself 3 years in, but they replaced all the early engines under warranty so it didn't really matter.

Hopes and dreams won't burn rubber, but I've been doing so in my FR-S for >3 years now. LOL at the people who 'waited to see', they missed out if they were ever truly capable of buying one in the first place.

I don't disagree with your point per se but to play devil's advocate, both the refreshed NSX and S2000 received engine displacement increases, upgraded brakes, new/significantly revised transmissions, and in the case of the S2000 revised suspension. A lot of people thought those refreshes noticeably changed the driving experiences for those cars, and I remember a decent number of owners trading in for the newer models.

Not saying it's common or that I was expecting the same from Toyota/Subaru, but it wouldn't have been completely unprecedented. That said I'm glad I don't feel the urge to trade in for the refresh. I've recently put in money for some track upgrades so I'm sitting pretty for now lol.
