The engine block, intake manifold, piston and cam changes have me intrigued for sure.

Was looking in the market for a used 2013 BRZ for about 2 months now. Didnt think the later models offered anything special however this is peaking my interest.

You will just have to balance the benefits of the many but small changes against the cost of used vs new.

I'm sure someone will buy a 2017 and sell it at a loss because they were disappointed that 5hp didn't make it faster than a Mustang.

FWIW, I have to say the depth of these changes is surprising given that we are probably just 1-2 model years away from a next generation (assuming there is a next generation).

All this talk about color... is no one else excited that we are getting a new design fuel pump that is most likely completely interchangeable ?

What makes you say that? The refresh is more likely to be made for the next 4 years in my opinion. Isn't that what Toyota normally does?

Priorities man priorities.

I honestly don't think there will be a next generation. Given the amount of R&D they have invested into this car they might just make a 3rd iteration of the same basic chassis if there is still a market left by then.

The rest of their lineup is going modular isn't it, won't be as bespoke and probably won't be as good.

Concur that. It will be at least 2019 before we see the next gen.

Tbh I doubt it'll be much different. Maybe a little bit less noise, but it'll still be loud. HPFPs are inherently loud.

If it's a larger pump though, that still remains to be seen.

I think Toyota typically runs their models for 5 years until they put out some major changes.
At least they do that for their bread and butter volume models (the Camry and Corolla come to mind).

Since the 2013MY was the first for the Twins, I'd hazard a guess that the 2018MY would be a switch to a new model?

That's my problem, i tend to over think everything. I go from looking at used to save money, to convincing myself that New is preferable due to warranty or any other crazy reason.

Also, if i'm not going BRZ, that Hot Lava FR-S here i come!

I was thinking that it might be best to wait until the 2nd gen is released, however who knows when that might be.

Being a low volume model and a mostly Subaru product, I would guess MY20. Seems illogical to make this many changes only to make a major change within two years.
