I am moving cross country and will have to tow my FR-S on a standard U-Haul trailer (not a dolly). Is there enough clearance for the front bumper to make it on the trailer at stock ride height?

I want to get it figured out before I go pick it up - If I have to go buy some 2x6's or something to extend the ramps, I'd rather know before hand.

How high is the "standard" trailer? How long are the ramps?
An off the top of my head guess would say it could be close but should be doable. With trailer height and ramp length we can figure angle and give a definitive answer.

I don't think you'll have a problem. I don't have first hand experience with the FR-S on a U-Haul trailer, but we do regularly tow my friend's C6 Corvette on one of those trailers. It does touch that lower black plastic piece that hangs off the bumper, but it doesn't come close to the actual bumper (painted portion) itself. Hope that helps.

Person on there brought some boards to get it up. Also it looks like it clears the front without scraping. Might want to bring some measuring tape, however.

I've had to use a U-Haul trailer for my car on 2 occasions. I'm down about 1.25 in in the front and I needed around 4in of wood under the front tires to keep the bumper from ramming the tire stops at the front of the trailer.

We often back the trailer up to a small hill or to a curb, this will often make the ramps about flat.

If your worried about clearance in the front why not just back it onto the trailer. May not ride as smooth this way with the extra weight on the back of the trailer vs the tongue but yea.

I would be more worried about getting the door open once it's up on the trailer.

Also, once you have driven forty or fifty miles, stop and tighten the wheel straps. They loosen a little in the first leg of your trip.

And the answer I was looking for! Thank you. I've gone cross country with cars on dollies and trailers before, so I am familiar with the process, just wanted to make sure I'd fit!

Eh, I'll climb out the window if I have to - but I'm skinny so I'm not worried. I did it 2 years ago with my neon on a dolly and that was much more tight than the trailer - the FR-S would have been fine to get out of.

I had to tighten the straps on the dolly every time we stopped for gas, but never had them come loose on a full trailer before.
