Unfortunately we can not load the 93 tune on the Flash Editor until you have already paired the Flash Editor with the car's ECU ID.

The 93 tune gets loaded into the "Power Writer" slot on the Flash Editor, and without an ECU ID already associated with it, we can't write to that slot.

So, how can I get the 93 octane tune?

After you have installed the V3 kit and paired the Flash Editor with your car on the 91 tune, you can send it into us and we can add the 93 tune and send it back to you. We can usually turn it around in a couple days.

In the mean time, just run the 91 tune.

But, you can't just send it with the 93 tune? I am very confused. Does this ship right from Japan? Does the tuner have a shipping label sent with it, to send it back to HKS?

No, we can't ship it with the 93 tune because the 93 tune is not built into the unit. We have to add it, just like you would add a custom tune from a Pro Dealer.

The units are manufactured in Japan, so that is where they originate, however we have them in stock at HKS USA, so when you order the kit, it will be shipped from HKS USA.

When you want the 93 tune, you ship the Flash Editor by itself back to HKS USA and we can add the tune and send it back to you. The only thing it will cost you to add the tune will be shipping of the Flash Editor back to HKS USA. We will add the 93 tune at no cost. To ship it back to HKS USA, call us at 855-800-7150 and request an RGA # from us and we will provide you shipping info.

Let me try and make an analogy;

HKS sells a 2.5" exhaust kit and a 3" kit through their pro-dealers...if you want the 3" to install yourself, you have to order the 2.5", send it back and then they expand all the pipes and ship the 3".

Makes sense!

How about this analogy instead:

HKS makes an out-of-the-box tuner that includes a 91 and E85 tune. They can add an additional tune for 93 octane for free, all you have to do is send in your tuner and have the custom tune loaded.

Interesting unrelated sidebar: Earlier posts from HKS have listed the different HKS-branded products that they had installed on their vehicle when they put it on the dyno and calibrated their flash editor tunes (Exhaust, plugs, intake, etc). Following the instructions provided with the V3 kit, I ordered the HKS Intake Duct to save myself from having to cut my existing intake duct to allow room for the intercooler piping. When the part arrived and I 'presented' it to the vehicle, it was obvious it wasn't going to fit. I don't know whether it's because of the redesign of the intercooler/piping for the V3 kit, or if the '16 model BRZ features slightly different positioning of the AC condenser, but the HKS intake duct would not fit, under any circumstances, at least not without cutting a big chunk out of it, which would seem purpose-defeating. Normally, I wouldn't mind too much, but the part was north of $200, and the vendor, of course, would not take it back as a return, because the packaging had been opened. So, just an FYI, if you're contemplating this kit. That said, I love the kit. It looks spectacular, and runs beautifully. At the time I purchased my kit, the Flash Editor wouldn't work with my '16. So, I went with a custom ECUTek tune and am completely satisfied with it.

Our test car is running HKS header, mid pipe, and exhaust, and spark plugs. The intake is stock. The only "other brand" parts on the car are Deatschwerks injectors and fuel pump, but we actually call out for those in the installation manual. Those are only needed if running E85 though.

Ran into the same problem for the same reasons as you... According to the instructions... it was supposed to fit. I thought the noncompliant part had to do with the fact that I have a modified Beatrush front beam brace installed... now I know that is not the case. Lost out on about $30 in shipping but fortunately I was able to return it.

And that's fine. I'm not speaking as a disgruntled customer. However, I get the impression the install manual was printed in Japan, because some of the photos were clearly from a RHD vehicle, and the s/c bracket itself was completely different in person than in the pictures leading me to wonder if they were still using stock photos from perhaps the V2 kit. In any case, the booklet itself stated that if an individual had the Intake Duct from HKS, then modification of the existing, stock intake would not be necessary. So, I ordered one... And it wouldn't fit. I can't rave about the supercharger kit enough. It's awesome. I just wish I hadn't dropped $200 on a part that I ended up unable to use. That would have gone a ways towards an exhaust. In any case, great kit. I love it.

Do you know which intake you ordered? In the installation manual, it says the only compatible HKS intake is this one: http://www.hksusa.com/fr-s-brz-repla...r-intake-duct/
