Before buying the BRZ I was also considering to wait for the '15 STI. I finally decided to buy the BRZ. I don't regret it, but I have it as a second car. I have it as a canvas and I don't care modifying it or leave it in my garage for weeks with parts out. The potential of this platform is great, but modifying is a tricky task with potential mistakes and cannot be done by everyone.

I got choked up cleaning out my fr-s though. That car left an impression on me like no other car I've owned. But for personal reasons I just had to let it go...

Anyways, I'll update later tonight!
Hey we did the same thing. What color you end up with?

It is not only a matter of money. It depends of what you want to build. If you want to build something to have fun and throw it away after 5 years, then it is easy. If you want to build something that will meet or extend the factory standards, then you need to devote a lot of time and effort.

I had an 2.5i a few years ago. It was awesome in the snow, but that was the problem. Every time I'd get it into a good slide, nice and controlled sideways action, I would feel the diffs/tires/traction control start searching for traction and then half a second later I was going straight again. The problem came from the fact that straight was not parallel with the road. "FUCK FUCK FUCK, both feet in Calum, both feet in, oh thank god." Reverse... "I'll never do that again." Repeat next snow storm.

Or money! Many a person drops it off at a shop with a want list and a blank cheque. Then they pick it up when done post pictures here, and say "look at my car" (then immediately freak out when everybody doesn't swarm them with praise after 68 views).
I think that is what Rav meant.

Fun fact #186 - If I decided to do something radical this is exactly what I would do! The difference is that I would tell people up front that is what I did and not get pissy if nobody said good job.

I have no shop, no tools and no desire to work on my own cars anymore. I think I have done enough of that over 40 years. What I do have now though is money so somebody else can make a living and I get the end product I wanted.

Welcome aboard! I traded in for a 16 WRX, while I love it I sorta wish I got the STI but it's still a good car. Although I do miss my FR-S

See and there is nothing wrong with that. I use to love wrenching on my car. That has changed though and I would much rather give someone else money to do it for me. The older I get the more appealing it is to pass the work on to someone else, but to still be able to reap the results!
