as above you will need to install as administrator, probably best to delete the c:\openflash directoy and contents then install again as admin user

i am the only person using this cpu. just checked user account settings under the control panel to confirm admin is showing correctly.

i will try deleting the folder from c drive, rinse & repeat. thank you gentlemen.

EDIT:: solution was 'right click>properties' on the shortcut on desktop, then select compatibility mode check box set to winXP service pack 3. and ran the shortcut like normal, it proceeded to continue downloading/installing. so apparently since the OFT unit was originally set up on winXP and now using the win7 that was the hang up. next big task is sorting how to datalog the correct channels to solicit feedback on that tune released a month or so ago.

Complete nooby here.

Tuning day.

Married tablet to car. Check.
Plugged into computer software and let it update. Check.

I previously downloaded the OFT tunes found here http://www.openflashtablet.com/downloads/

Toyota GT86 Off-The-Shelf (OTS) Tune Files (v2.076) UPDATED 3/30/16

When the original file changed to PRESENT, the modified folders were already filled with tunes. Did the folder i downloaded automatically get transferred in, or are they old shelf tunes that came with the tablet?

my Cal code is ZA1JB01D and when I search through the BIN folder, it skips right over BO1D ROMS.

some information i see.

HW VERSION: 1.00
FW VERSION: 1.36
44 Ver.1.28

anyone clear up some nooby confusion?

EDIT: I found the same cal code under D 6AT, how do I know if I have the latest file? I just don't see " (v2.076)" anywhere in the software.

could be old versions of the stock tunes on the tablet. Best you manually update it just to be sure you have the latest version.

I went through the file document and loaded the file but it listed the same exact tune in the modifier, so i wouldn't know if it was any different. Well, at least the name of it is the same, and it's the same..

Stg 2 UEL B01D.bin is what I loaded from

Toyota GT86 Off-The-Shelf (OTS) Tune Files (v2.076) UPDATED 3/30/16

but it's the same name as what was already loaded onto the tablet.

You can always rename the downloaded .bin files so the name will appear different when you upload onto the device. Or delete the existing tunes off the tablet and upload the new ones.

I've had my OFT for approximately 14 months and married it to my manual 2013 Oz 86 when I first got it downloading the factory tune to number one position on the tablet where, if I understand it properly, it remains until the OFT is unmarried from the car

I decided not to mod the car or flash any tunes until the car was out of warranty which it now is.

Since my car has had 2 dealers services since I initially downloaded the factory tune there is every possibility that the original factory tune I down loaded 14 months ago has been updated. I can't find any mention of it in my service book but given how slack some dealers in OZ are that doesn't mean it hasn't been done.

In view of this;

Q1. Will the OFT automatically download a newer factory tune if one is on the ECU replacing the initial tune downloaded 14 months ago?

Q2. If it doesn't can it be done manually or would it require un marrying the OFT from the car and then remarrying?

Q3. Given the latest factory tunes are usually available is there a need to download the factory ECU tune on to the tablet again. I mean the factory tunes, depending on region and trans, are generic and not specific to individual cars/ECU's.

Thanks in advance..

You need to unmarry *before* the dealer flashes over your ECU.

I am picking up an OFT and was just wondering is there an ideal list of parameters to log? I have read he logging threads with a ton of good info but I didn't see a so called preferred log files parameters. There is so many possibilities it is a bit confusing.

Here is a couple different things you can log.

Throttle Position
MAF
FLKC – Fine learning knock control
FBKC (Knock Correction) – Feed Back Knock control
IAM – Ignition Advance Multiplier
AFR
Command AFR
STFT - Short Term Fuel Table
LFTF - Long Term Fuel Table
Oil Temp
Intake Air Temp
Coolant Temp

Give the car about 50km to learn the new fuel trims before you start beating on it. You're in Oshawa, so if you can just do a bit of driving on the 401 to speed up the process.

Cheers

URGENT!! CAR WONT START

Recently updated my tablet and attempted to reflash. 5% of the way through the tablet tell me that an error occured while writing to the ECU. After a couple tries i gave up, disconnected the tablet and attempted to turn on my car. Now my car is stuck in some kind of security mode or something and wont even turn over when i try to start it up.

I have contemplated taking it to the dealer for service but i currently have E85 in my gas tank and a stage 2 tune. I am afraid that my warranties will get voided because they will most likely find out that ive been re-flashing my ECU and running Ethanol.

I wish this was as simple as connecting the tablet and re-flashing back to my original file but i keep getting the "an error occuried while writing to the ECU" Message.

Any ideas on how i can fix this? It seems like the car is stuck in programming mode or flashing mode?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

FYI ive tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour. Also the horn and all other electronics in the car seem to be working fine.
