Oh you guys

I have thought of the roof racks, but I'm not sure how easy they are to put on and remove. Also is it easy to find roof racks that fit?

I do normal xc/all mountain but I love my downhill. Though coming from a Magna I don't have the need to go off road.

I thank you guys for the support, this is what forums are meant for.

I think you've all helped me make my decision.

Out on ur 86 and deposit! That itself pays for the bunky...
Ull be upset everytime u see us driving past sideways in our cars, slip into deep depression, hate urself and not ride ur bike anymore anyway.. Then ull get fat and just sit around at home eating cake all day... It's a snowball effect.. Buy the car... Roof racks will also fix ur dilemma..

I have Thule racks for my evo and its literally a case of flipping up the cap at the end of them, undoing the allen key a few turns and then lift it up and off, takes about 2 mins to put on or off, good stuff

this is a concern of mine, but with music gear rather than bikes.

I can fit a 4x10 speaker box, amp and 2 bass guitars (one in hard case) in my car (180sx) so losing the hatchback would be pretty devastating.

I grow bonsai and carry alot of trees, so I was a bit concerned as well. But my solution, keep shitty hatchback daily AND get 86. Winrar.
May even get rid of shitty hatchback daily for awesome small van daily at some stage

i have to carry a largeish foot scanner around the place for work but it looks like it will just fit! that raised spare wheel will get it the way with stuff though, not the most convenient luggage space, its shallower than I imagined but thats the price you pay for nice looks!

I have a 1984 Subaru Leone wagon (L series). Nothing beats this for low cost, and getting your mountain bike / road bike to an event. I can leave both wheels on, either road or mtb. Can select 4WD if needed. Very fuel efficient. Maintanance costs for this in the last 2 years have been zero. In my mind, the car is worth $200. People sometimes steel it. If the weekend comes and I forgot where I parked my Subaru (often it gets stolen), I call the police and they often give me a lift to the place they find it.

Lol Leone... I am going to have to, at some point take my bass drum down and make sure it's going to fit in the front seat... not a dealbreaker if it doesn't, but problematic.
