I'm in a bit of a Pickle. To 86 or not to 86?

Sigh.

After my test drive and getting closer to the date. I'm unsure if I should go ahead. My biggest and main problem is mountain biking. Where do I put a bike? I was hoping that the boot entry was bigger enough to slide a bike through to the rear seats. But after checking it out, I believe that I will be in a world of hurt.

I have signed a contract (:() and applied for finance, it was only after sleeping on it that I realised it not the best idea. I thought I had plans for all of this. I was going to get a another car for biking and everyday, then 86 it up on the weekend. However I have been told that that idea is shit. My original plan was 86 is the price turned out to right, or a dual cab 4x4 ute if not, and to be honest, I was hoping the 86 was going to be priced well above my limit (just so I could forget about it and get it off my mind).

Even though the car is brilliant and I could live with it everyday (driving to work and on the weekend), would it be the correct decision?

Yours Sincerely,
A confused disgruntled man.

I'm with @Nardi330, why don't you put a roof rack on? I know it may not be the fanciest thing to install on a car like this but it solves your problem right?;)

If that is the only reason, I couldn't see why you wouldn't just get roof racks...

If it was downhill mt biking and you need to get around in the bush for that, I would say yes... yes you have the wrong car.

Maybe buy a chalet/garage in the hills for weekends? Leave the bike there and enjoy the twisty drive from/to your permanent residence. If my car looked like a Maserati I could be comfortable with this solution.

By removing for cleaning/inspecting/servicing/tuning wheels, chain, derailleur, etc. after riding just put the parts in back and you are good to go, reassembling before riding the next time ( unless you ride a 70cm).

Hey, I'm just trying to help here!

same boat as franky... I do both road and mtb, im hoping the boot is big enough. a dealer on the bayside said bring a bike over and throw it in the back to test.. i may do that cause this is the very question i am asking myself before i go ahead... ive been waiting for a US FRS fella to do this for months.. :(

franky if you pull out what dealer are you with and what spec did you get? you able to get your deposit back?

WOW, literally registered to post

I'm in exactly the same boat, i Sold my S2K for this reason, even though you COULD dismantle the bike and squeeze it in the passenger seat with the roof down and look max baller,

and the EVO's back seat doesn't fold >:( There's a few threads I've seen with guys chucking road bikes in their FR-S, one even with the back wheel still on but a MTB is such a different animal, but i think this car is too perfect for me, I'll just get some racks or if theres a good boot lid option might look at that,

The extra time spent taking the rack on/off is so worth it if you ask me

Mate, I got my road bike into the back of my mini.

Put down a tarp to protect the plastics, flip the front wheel off, ancor down in two spots to stop it bouncing (I didn't bother doing this bit) around and you're set.

Both back seats where down, and front passanger was all the way forward and angled. It worked. 86 boot looks way bigger than my car too from what I saw yesterday.

There is a photo on here somewhere of a bike in the boot. Just gotta take the wheels off apparently.

Is there mounting points for a trailer hitch? Maybe you could do a trailer hitch bike rack?

Roof rack - ugly
Bike rack on rear - ugly
Quick release front and rear wheels - there is your answer :)
