General C Street build recommendations
I would like to put together a post to create the *ideal* c street twin. This will let people know what is available, provide estimates of costs, and make that first step into (very basic) mods easier and more rational. This is not supposed to be the “end all, be all” of discussions, more like a general guide with a general set of options and their corresponding price (again, an estimate). Much of this is for me and for where I would like to see my car in a year. I think it will always stay c street (unless the twins get moved to d street), but I would not mind making it as competitive as it could be there.
Some of this stuff I stole/borrowed from the great SCCA Solo C Street Discussion thread. This is for discussion. I will move the suggestions to the corresponding place in this post if people have any. There is lots of room for differing opinions, too. Allowed physical modifications: Catback / axelback exhaust: An extra ~4 engine HP (or ~3 WHP)… Suggestions?Air filter: Stock air filter ~$10 K&N re-usable ~$45Stock shocks/struts: Koni Sport - ~$800 (rebound adjustment) MCS - ~$4,200+ OEM Camber bolts:(with rebound and compression adjustment and external reservoir) Toyota: SU003-02818 Subaru: 901000394Brake pads (keep them the same compound front and back): Winmax W3: ~$300Fluids: Motul Gear 300 75W-90 for tranny and rear-dif (cheaper, because you only need to buy 4 quarts instead of 3 and 2 respectively. Motul eco-lite 0w20 (for autocross/street. Something heavier might be appropriate if tracking it) Motul brake fluidWheels: Enkei RPF1s: <15lbs, sturdy, good bang for the buck. ~$880 for 4Tires: 215/17/45 recommended size Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R - ~$133/tyre Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec - ~146/tyre Hankook Ventus R-S3 V2 - ~122/tyreAnti-roll bar (aka sway bar): Recommendations? Suspension tuning: This is just a starting point. Different people will obviously need and want different settings, and each car is a unique and beautiful snowflake with its own specific preferences. Nonetheless, it might makes sense to me to give folks a solid starting point. Toe: Front: How much toe out? Rear: neutralCamber: Front: As close to -1.5 as possible with the camber bolts Rear: neutralCaster: Can’t do nothin’!Ride Height: Drop half an inch? Keep factory? Please help me fill in the blanks, and tell me I’m being an idiot when I am. |

We have a very active thread that answers all of this, but the only ideal "twin" for CS is a TRD FR-S.

I just thought it might be useful for people to have the basics (especially suspension tuning) in a single source to look for. The c street discussion thread is an amazing resource, but iirc it is also over 200 pages long and not represented in its entirety on the first post. --Me |

It was in B Street and got moved to C Street when it was determined the TRD parts (springs & bars) were a port installed option. Now the BRZ is at a disadvantage.
There are some rumblings about moving the BRZ to D Street but who knows what sort of classing mess that will make when the 2017's will have a performance pack with Sachs shocks, 17x7.5" wheels and Brembos. In fact this was in the April Fastrack as a proposal: - Move from CS to DS: Scion FRS (non Series 1.0, w/o TRD Springs, w/o TRD Swaybars) (2013-2016) Subaru BRZ (2013-2016) |

The 1.0 car has the TRD parts so it stays in CS.
It will be silly if the BRZ goes to DS and then the 2017 BRZ stays in CS. |

It's going to be nuts if I can just look at the pre-registration and swap my springs around to bounce between CS and DS to have a better chance at winning. WRX guys will not be happy if the twins land in DS.

Fastest BRZ at nats last year would have been 0.5s out of the trophies in DS.
2nd fastest BRZ at nats last year driven by Priebe. If you don't know who that is, check the back of the rule book. Certainly a lot of the fast BRZs from 2014 stayed home but they don't look out of place to me. |

Besides, shouldn't we ALL need to be placing orders for a 2017 car anyway? ![]()
