Why does every single thread end up on this topic lately?

There are enough examples that it can be officially called a trend at this point.

Kids with a new toy. Once it becomes more widespread and people have some time to get used to it, it'll become old hat and no one will care.

Ya'll ready for another one ......??

One hot Saturday afternoon, back in the early 50's, my grandfather pulled his almost new Oldsmobile into the barnyard and was fixing on changing the crankcase oil.

I asked him if I could do that for him ..... he said yes and handed me 5 quarts of oil and a filter. He pulled that fine machine up on a gravel ramp into the barn, so as I could slide under and drain the old oil down into the gravel.

I slid under there and unscrewed the drain plug and all this pretty red fluid came gushing out. He was sitting over by the house under a maple tree, having an iced tea, when I approached him and commented, grandpa, I said, that oil didn't look very dirty and by the way, I've never seen red oil.

He jumped up, rushed over to his pride and joy machine, looked underneath and exclaimed that I had just drained his car's automatic transmission oil ....

What the heck is an "automatic" transmission ...I asked ... ?? It sure did look like an crankcase oil pan to me ...

Grandpa had to take the old truck into town and buy some very expensive transmission fluid ........ he was not happy with me ....... I was sad ......
