TBH I'm surprised the Canadian members haven't had anything nice to say about the E-class, what with its premium leather-heated seats and being engineered to survive sub 40 degree weather

If your population has a higher educational level and you have more engineers per capita, then you can get "better engineering" per unit dollar. So with a given amount of money, you could probably get "better engineering" in Germany than the same amount of money spent in the US. If every other person is an engineer, then they are (on average) likely to work for less $$ |

I don't know what any of this has to do with my Lada flipping over into a ditch.

Yes that was my point. The engineering as engineering always remains the same (changes in tech aside) the application of that engineering however differs.

Not my cup of tea and I hate heated seats. As they warm up it feels like you peed yourself.

I don't know the answer to your question. But I do know I was trying to investigate a bad power window on a Beetle. You know, when you take the door panel off an average eco car like a Toyota, Honda, etc. There is a plastic sheet behind the door panel.
You know what the germans had? Another panel held on by about 20 torx bolts. wtf, lmao

Keeping it simple here..
You could compare frs to a Mazda mx because they're both made to target handling for example But comparing frs (light weigh sport car) to a Mercedes (luxury/power/big engine) is like comparing a Toyota prius to a Lamborghini/ferrari.. It's more about what league the car fit in to fairly compare them... the other guy just trying to pick a battle he knows he could win (in a straight/drag race).. one definition of a bully |

Just sit in the Twin during a heavy rain storm and you can work out where the engineering was focused. Acoustics, insulation and vibration wasn't the USP.
