Leases only make sense in fringe cases. We are on our third lease, two evs and a bmw, but we bought the frs. I think it was the right move.

As for you, spike021, it sounds like the twins are a bit of a financial stretch. Perhaps you should hold off? Or get something that isn't a stretch. Cars are great. I love cars. They're not worth financial stress.

Ah, nah it's not necessarily a financial stretch. I've done approximate calculations and I should be able to afford one just fine this year.

I'm just used to my dad constantly saying to be careful with money, and living a bit more frugally as a result of that.

I'm finishing up school (just 2 classes left) and between working my internship full time this summer, then working it 3/4 time in the fall, and then working there full time after grad, which is nearly guaranteed at this point because of job security, I'd be ok.

I'm just used to the idea of "is that a good deal? make sure you're not making an impulse purchase if there are better deals. maybe if you wait there will be a better deal" etc.

Well, for a used 2013, I'd try to get it for 19 if they're asking 20. For the difference in price, a new car is probably worth it if you can afford it. I guess the depreciation curve had flattened out.

Ah, yes, KBB, that paragon of accuracy. I see ebay sold auctions in the 17-18k range. Sometimes lower. Sometimes higher.

My car is pretty used up. I would bet I couldn't get more than $12-13K for it. I could get more for than it's value because it would still be the cheapest FR-S for sale locally if I decided to sell it.

But I'm not selling it. It's just about paid off then I can get another car and have 2!

Well, a high-mileage, poor condition, or salvage car will always fetch less. 12-13k is pretty low.

If you drive more than 18k miles a year, it may not make payment sense as it gets closer to the financing payments, but it gives you the opportunity to get away from a "high mileage car" at the end. I know Toyota will do a 30k mile per year lease. Lol.
If a CPO car has been on the lot "approximately 50 days" would that be a bad thing? This is the downtown SF Toyota dealer.

Not necessarily. It isn't "lot rot" at that point. It's aged inventory, so more chances of more test drives on it and more chance of lot damage happening (could be keyed at that point, and it'll still be CPO since they did their CPO procedure before it got keyed). I believe 90 days is when it goes to wholesale.

I'd sell you one, but I don't even have any pre-owned FR-S or BRZ (obviously wouldn't be CPO) in stock.

Anyone watch the Monaco Grand Prix earlier today? Was a pretty entertaining race!

I don't think Hamilton should've won though, I'm shocked that the race officials didn't penalize him for cutting that hairpin!

Update: It won't be at the kick-off since it'll probably be in the body shop or won't yet have been fixed. This weekend, he was parking in the city and got attacked by a really terribly designed garage that scratched up the rear driver's side door pretty badly. And we won't be able to afford to fix it until after the 15th. :P

It really depends. I was looking for a new car for my parents and saw a bunch of CPOs at Honda and Toyota. After looking at the Carfax reports for many of the cars, I got spooked when the majority of the CPO Camrys were Fleet/Rental beaters.

Serramonte Honda wouldnt even budge on their KBB "overpriced" CPO. At the end of the day it's money talks and BS walks.

Is it on YouTube by chance? That's an entertaining track to watch F1 on.
