Looks like the author Steve Davies just want people to visit his site with out of context quotes.

Another site too that's doing it:

http://www.am-online.com/news/2012/6...brz-sti/31142/

title says "Subaru confirms turbo BRZ STI", yet there's no quote confirming it.

Now for an actual quote:

"Plus, we want to keep turbocharging separate. It is for models like the WRX STI," Atake told Auto Express. "The same goes for four-wheel drive. We could not make the BRZ four-wheel drive even if we wanted to."

So I take things with a very tiny grain of salt whenever I hear things like this. I am happy with the normal BRZ, but if an STI is out before I plan to get mine late Spring-Summer 13' (and like it), then Ill consider it.

The turbo seems like just a matter of time for Subaru.... The AWD would be a whole other feat, but dont be naive an say its impossible; moving the engine forward *gasp* or creating new consumer drivetrain designs is not beyond the companies ability.

But the problem is since they have already gone the bottom turbo route it would not be cost effect to build another turbo setup just for 1 model of the whole Subaru line. It's business, at the end of the day it's all about the bottom line.

You know, if this is true (which I'm pretty sure its not) the same thing happened to the Nissan Z.

240Z - 2,355 lbs
370Z - 3,232 lbs

Glad I'm getting mine now before they *might* mess up the formula.

I have faith is Subaru though, they can't mess this up.

I don't feel stupid. I am wondering why you're projecting "stupid" on me.

The most I could say about this post now that I'm not groggy anymore from waking up is it's old news.

Thanks for your opinion though. No hard feelings. It's a forum

I could care less about AWD and the added bulk. Honestly, all I want to see is at least 50lbs/ft torque stock.

How many cars have been getting significantly lighter? America is crammed with overweight cars, heavy sportscars, and look at the STI weight increases and EVO

How much less could you care?

And here...the car has already been made.

Then I would recommend doing FA25 or FA20 turbo (from new Legacy) swap.

Yep We had 180" of snow last year lol. I get around okay in my tC, but I cheat and throw on 4 steel wheels & snow tires on the car and keep them on from November through March.. It's certainly not AWD but it's okay. If Subaru doesn't release an AWD BRZ, I'll probably just get a 4door WRX.

Agreed. While most of the weight comes from safety features I'm sure a lot can be cut down to BRZ-like weight.
