The one thing I find interesting about the new Nvidia models is the built-in support for proper multiple camera angles in games using multiple monitors. That alone would make the cost worth it to me. It will depend on whether the new AMD cards also have this feature.

My gaming rig has 3 monitors but I rarely use it for gaming because the distortion is awful and distracting. About the only time I use it is in Microsoft Flight Sim which compensates for it by allowing you to assign specific views to different monitors and it treats each as separate window in the game.

Some discussion of it in this article.

There are very few games that really support a decent multi monitor setup.

That's the advantage to the Nvidia solution, it doesn't require a lot for the game developers to support it. In fact, it appears to work with any game.

It may work but at the same time nothing beats a game that was designed for the system your using it on. Its like a council game ported to a PC. Sure it may work but there are alot of things that dont work as well as intended.

I've had three sli setups all using MSI or Asus cards with their trick cooling. I've had a card fail on each systems*. The computer shop told me that these cards run super hot. Not on average but at transistor level they can have localised hot spots. Her words. Not surprising considering how many gazillion transistors these things are now packing. If these new Nvidia cards run more efficiently then maybe they will have a longer life span.

*My computer case doesn't have the side cover on it and has a large house fan blowing on the side during summer.

I am always wary of how games look. I find that no matter how good the concept, and now matter how good the game play looks, I really cannot predict if the game itself will be fun.

Installed DOOM, played for about 1/2 an hour. Requested (and received) refund from Steam. I like some corridor shooters; I liked Hard Reset, thought Shadow Warrior was stupid good fun (quite looking forward to SW2), enjoyed both new-ish Wolfensteins but for what ever reason DOOM just didn't do it for me.

Picked up Splinter Cell Blacklist on special. Good value for the price I paid.
