I got fired once. I was a cashier at seaworld and we collected signed receipts for every credit card purchase, and turned all the receipts in at the end of shift. Well, one day my manager was stocking the fridge with beer (which we weren't allowed to even touch on the clock if we were under 18, so it couldn't have possibly been me) and she broke an entire case of Dos Equis which spilled all over the receipts, thus ruining them. After shift, they said since I was unable to produce the receipts of about $5000 worth of purchases, it was equivalent to losing $5000 cash. How that makes sense, I don't know but I'm not a financial guy. I got fired for (and I quote this out of my SeaWorld record) stealing money from the company.

It was something along the lines of needing the receipts in the records for the purchases to be legitimate. I was like 17 and scared of the real world at the time so I didn't even bother fighting it

Depending on how long ago it was this is totally feasible. There was a day (pre electronic transfer) that you actually had to submit the receipts to get paid. Now there aren't even receipts but once upon a time those signed copies were worth gold.

Well since the words seaworld and stocking the fridge with beer were in the same sentence Id say it was awhile ago as this would not fly in this *****fied modern world we live in.

This couldn't have been any longer than 2 and a half years ago. Plus, SeaWorld is VERY up to date on tech. Which is why it surprised me they were so adamant about physical receipts when they have every receipt stored in their servers.
