Preference -- Glock 19 or Sig p320

If you don't mind asking...why compact 19? Go with standard 17 (more comfort and practical unless you plan on carrying).

I've shot CZ75, SP-01 and many others. Won't lie, I do enjoy the CZ, but can't go wrong with a glock...won't malfunction (make sure have somewhat firm grip as this is the only reason a shell will get stuck in the chamber)

Try to get a 3rd gen glock 17 as you can also buy a .40 upper and slide right onto the lower (cool little perk of the 17). Good luck on you purchase

IMHO Glock 19 is my choice between these 2 and thats coming from a Sig guy. (I love my p226 mk25) If you wanted a polymer gun, Glock is the way to go. If you're looking for all metal, hard to go wrong with Sig.

Yeah, I have a Sig and a couple of Glocks, and I like them all for different reasons. Sigs also make for excellent suppressor hosts.

I wanted the compact because I have a smaller hand. I also wanted something that my wife can handle without buying another one.

Where you grip it will be no different between a full size and a compact version of a gun. The vertical length of the grip will be different, but that doesn't affect the grip your hand gets except when you have a big hand and your pinkie has nothing to grip, but for a smaller hand, no difference.


The interchangeable backstraps on most polymer pieces will allow you to adjust the front-back length and often the bulge in the bottom of the grip to better fit your hand.

Modern weapons are a lot more customizable out of the box.


Definitely try both a compact and a full size version of each gun. If maximum concealability is not paramount, IMO, you should go with the full size. You will have a larger magazine capacity and less felt recoil. Shoot both back to back and you will notice the increased control and milder muzzle climb.

For me the Glock 19 fits and feels better than the 17 and 34. But they all aren't that great compared to the 42 and 43, those are the best fitting Glocks because they aren't so thick. And for a compact gun, the 42 shoots like a full size pistol...I would have no issue shooting at extended ranges with it. For me though there is only one choice in polymer guns, and that's HK - absolute engineering and shooting perfection. Glock would be the cheaper fallback choice of lesser fit and finish. Not much a fan of SIG handguns, even though they function great and are manufactered just as well as HK. Would much rather a Glock over SIG for bore axis and trigger reasons. SIG rifles on the other hand, I reaaally like...

I wanted to give an update. I almost bought the glock 19. But I really liked the feel of the sig (grip and trigger). Also, it looked like it would be easier to maintain and the range gave me an incentive to buy the sig. Thanks again for the tips.

Hey! I have the same Sig!... God I love my Mk25, best handgun I've ever had. Weight, style, ergos, quality are all top notch.

When the various choices all function reliably, how the gun feels in your hand and reacts when shot is the most important thing. I hope you shot an example of the gun you bought to confirm it behaves like you want. How it feels in your hand is meaningless if it jumps around uncomfortably when fired. Granted, it's a 9, it can't kick that hard, even with +P ammo so you will probably be fine.

It felt about the same when firing. I was able to get a tighter grouping 7 yards away when using the sig versus g19. Today I went through 400 round between the glock and sig.

I kept this after firing the sig.

Yeah, I love it and everyone that has shot it enjoys it as well and seems to shoot better with it. Not that it's more accurate than their guns, it's just confidence inspiring allowing the shooter to have better accuracy. It's so smooth and the SRT trigger I have on there is night and day difference. Check it out if you don't have it already.

I went and checked out an HK USP 9mm the other day. I almost bought it. I had some reservations so the guy at the counter told me they had one I could rent and shoot at their range. He waived the range fee and rental price and all I had to do was pay for ammo and target.


The gun felt great in my hand, fired extremely accurate up to 25yds and all in all was a solid piece. My major gripes with it was 1) Recoil on her was a little too much for my tastes though I was able to pull off double taps easily. 2) Trigger pull was more than I liked. Im used to the light pull of the glock so with the sig I had to press harder than I was used to.


Couple days later I purchased another Blue Label Gen4 G19. $460 after taxes.. Thanks for this discounts glocks

Huge Glock fan. I carry a 26 with a 19 mag everywhere i go. There isn't. Contractor or sf guy on my fob that isn't carrying a glock.
