Go to dealership 2, drop off the car, get a loaner for the duration, tell them if the car is returned and not shifting properly to replace all the mechanical parts associated with the gear shift. Brand new parts.

Sorry OP for your troubles. Here's how anal the warranty people are.
My driver side visor broke. No problem .... I thought. I called the dealership expecting that this would be an easy fix. I was told that I would have to bring the car down so they could inspect the visor to determine if it was covered under the warranty. The SA looks at the visor and tells me that he would get back to me. They couldn't replace it that same day. They call me a couple days later and said that it was covered. Another trip to the dealership to have it "installed" by the toyota certified mechanics. All this effort and time for a plastic visor.

Its unfortunate but its like the TSA, people who were manipulative probably took advantage of the dealership before, they got heat for it then had to tighten up their procedure.
Or their just douches about it. Sorry for the derail lol, any updates?

I'm actually kind of shocked Dealership1 didn't claim they couldn't do any of the work from the start due to mods. Thats how Ive always heard and seen dealerships to react. Like someone said in some post here, its their ace in the hole to get out of stuff they don't want to do.
Which kind of spawns a question for anyone here that works at a dealership; If the dealership makes money off the warranteed work why do they try to get out of so much of it? Subaru/Toyota are not going to know if there are modified parts... why would the dealership care? I mean if there is an obvious direct correlation mod-->damage/breakage then I can see them calling BS on someone. But otherwise why do they care? Its like a guaranteed payment on work. Not like a garage out there that has to fight to get paid sometimes. |
