By notorious I mean it's a known issue there's a 20 or 30 page post of people with this issue

Yep. Although many just had a low level in the overflow reservoir which is not an issues at all.

Yup that was my issue on a 2015, so I used a worm type clamp instead of the spring ones they uses and used the stock tubes

The coolant loss isn't that much of an issue. I noticed my reservoir was about empty. Bought a gallon of the blue from subaru.

Only took a few ounces. Radiator was topped up still. Haven't had to add any since. And I have a couple dozen track days on mine. 40,000 miles 2013.

Changing yourself isn't too bad. I did it on a Honda and couldn't get the block plug out. I cycled through distilled water with the engine running and stop cock open. Once it was draining water I started adding the proper coolant until it drained blue. Probably not the recommended way but it worked and its like 7 years later I haven't had an issue.

I just noticed the low coolant issue on the reservoir tank at 20k miles.. based on the research i did here, that is cause due to water evaporation since the coolant is 50% water and it sits on top of the headers causing to get very hot and causing water to evaporate with time. Just get some subaru blue coolant and fill it up. if no high temp shows on the dash it should be fine.

Mine was parked for months. When I ran it, it ate coolant so bad I thought it was broken. I overfilled to keep track of it. 4 months later it's still overfilled. I don't recommend overfilling but yeah buy it. Owner was probably one of those people who just get in and run.

Yes, if someone offered me 18K right now for mine I'd sell it. Has 26,000 miles on it, lol.

These cars drop value quick. WRB limited six speed is one of the most desirable combinations, so when it does pop up they generally get snatched up quick.

The Dealership here in Nashville just offered me $19,800.00 for my '14 AT in Silver. It has 31K miles on it.

Yeah, I know. I've wanted this car for 4 years now, waiting a few more weeks wont hurt if this doesn't work out.

Oh, trust me I'm completely on board here. I made the same comment to the sales rep right after the brought this up. Also said you don't exactly buy a GT350 to drive it gingerly to the corner store.

Regarding the price, based off what I've seen its not really that bad.

Seeing as I got my 2013 WRB Sport tech(the limited for Canada) with 30k (kilometers not mile) and over 25k of mods for 27k last year I'd say yes it is a bit much. That being said it isn't like their stealing from you, it's just a bit more than what I would pay

how bad did you over fill it? There is a lot of space above the Full mark on the reservoir tank. I just added some coolant to mine and accidentally i 'overfilled' the coolant level by a little, not sure how bad that is.

My car did the same thing. Bought the car new with full coolant, a year later it went to the low line. Two years later, below the low line in the overflow tank. Known issue but nobody knows where the coolant is disappearing to.

it evaporated. coolant isn't a solid but a mixture of water. the overflow tank also isn't air tight. top off and don't worry about it anymore

Mine dropped in the first few thousand miles. Then I filled it, and it hasn't dropped again in two years.

If you overfill it with coolant, the worst that will happen is that it will overflow onto the ground when it gets hot. It does no damage. It just makes a mess.

I don't buy that. First, even though it's not airtight, the system shouldn't allow that much evaporation over the course of a few months. That kind of loss should take years if it happens at all.

Second, it actually does take years after that initial top-off or simply no longer happens. If evaporation were really the issue, it wouldn't stop evaporating after the first refill as so many people have reported. Mine dropped in the first few thousand miles and hasn't dropped since, and that seems to be the norm. If that initial loss evaporated, why does it stop evaporating? That makes no sense.
