Over in England there were tests with a GTI and Shell and BP, other brands that were tier 2 were tested. We're talking 20hp differences from some. If you are trying to save money by buying cheap gas you shouldn't be driving this car. Better not check the oil either while your at it. This car gets 200hp with 93 octane, not with 91. The crickets go away for most as well. OK, now let me have it......
Exactly. Why pay for a 200 hp car and only use 190 or 180 hp. You're not getting your money's worth lol. Besides, it's only a 2 Liter four cylinder engine so it doesn't take THAT much gas. Might as well give her what she asks for.

Only thing is my crickets got louder because the 94 octane I'm using has ethanol. Whereas the 91 octane I used to use was ethanol free. But with 91 octane the torque dip just got worse and worse with the summer humidity. Couldn't stand it. The best was to use the ethanol free 91 octane mixed with the Lucas Octane booster. Torque dip was smoother, even in warmer weather, and crickets were a lot quieter. But I'm too lazy to keep going back to the store for octane booster so I stick with the 94 octane. But if I was stuck in Cali where you only have 91 octane, I would probably get a whole box of octane booster

Congrats! I know how you feel, just got mine last month and they are just darn fun to drive -> and that’s what it’s all about.

Yeah, my 1st to 2nd shift is a bit notchy compared to the rest, but all is good.

Only get 91 gas around here

93 makes my car obnoxiously loud, to the point where I get a headache. Not to mention I didn't notice any perf difference

How on earth would the octane level of fuel make your car louder?

I have to say Lucas Oil Octane Booster is hands down the safest way to go for cars in California. I used to live there. Lucas oil offers a fuel stabilizer for ethanol, and those ingredients come along with the Octane Booster included. It makes the gas better and the booster keeps the top end lubed. Most boat owners know about Lucas Fuel stabilizer and it helps stop the ethanol in gas ruining their boat motors. You can buy the octane booster by the case. If I lived in California, I would use it with every tank. Just ask a GTR owner out there, they will tell you.

I have tested many octane boosters over the years myself. My favorites are NOS Racing Formula and Lucas Oil. NOS will change the sound of your car. My V6 Maxima goes to a roar full throttle, so it is not out of touch to say the OE hears something going to 93 octane. The Lucas Oil is a little safer to use and still increases octane 1.89, so 91 will be 92.89

Well, yes, I can understand that ...... especially when you have an aftermarket header.

The higher octane allows the engine to make more power ...... leading the driver to believe he can beat that mustang beside him at the light. So he applies more gas to try to do that, thus the exhaust is louder ........

Your bullshit is all over the forum If you have 93 available you sure as hell better be using it. Tell people otherwise is ridiculous it's not fuel marketing and you obviously don't know anything about tuning or how this engine runs. In a pinch sure, if you have no access to 91 use 89.
