@Zach, you said that we can get over 300whp without pushing any limits with "my" fuel... I've read that the stock conrods will die at around 280whp. A friend of mine is pushing ~400whp on a stock FA20 w/o any failures @E85. How could this be possible? I know that the rods are weak at this power level and that they dont like any kind of knock.

IF its possible to get around 300+whp w/o punishing the stock long block Im your man. But just if its really safe to do this. Im completely stock (engine, injectors, clutch,...). w/ oil cooler @ Motul 300V 5W-40.

edit: I got a lot of track/race usage...

cheers from germany
I'm not sure what you mean; that's exactly what the 3 port EBCS we offer does. It is plug and play with the stock CPC connector, and is implemented into the factory ECU for control through EcuTek with RaceROM.

I imagine 300 will be perfectly achievable, but cannot say for sure until we're actually there tuning it back and forth with your logs to see how the fuel actually behaves.

As for the rods, they're hit and miss. The issue is not knock, though that will kill a motor with a quickness. The reason these rods go at high power with zero knock to be found is simple fatigue. The more power you put through it, the more fatigue the rods get put through and the more likely they are to let go. I've seen rods go on bone stock cars, and I've seen rods last for a good while at 600whp. Personally, I think it's a roll of the dice and a fair bit of luck involved above 350whp on stock rods.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't be running the 5W-40 oil in an FA20, but that's a different topic entirely.

Sincerely,

Zach

Okay, and if Im using a manual boost controler with 7psi and 10psi it will adjust itself (fuel/ignition)?

Technically, yes. Although, I simply cannot discourage the use of a manual boost controller enough.

Yes a manual BC isnt the best choise. I will go with the wg pressure at first (6psi). If I go with higher boost Ill get a EBCS.

As Zach has stated, we really do not recommend manual boost controllers. These will spike the boost down low for the most part and if there is a serious problem there is no way to protect the engine.

We are currently refining our Flash & Go tunes to incorporate additional levels of safety by incorporating a tiered overboost protection system within the ECU. We found instead of hard boost cut (which we all hate), we want to maintain target boost levels first by controlling the WG duty cycle. If this fails the ECU moves to a second tier where it controls throttle to lower boost (or boost creep) and finally if all else fails move to the final tier and close the throttle.

Anyway just a little info on how our boost control system works and why this is preferred over a MBC.

Cheers,
William Knose

Thank you William. You guys are right. Owning and modifying a 30k€ car with a MBC is just crap.

I know its hard to answer but will it be tricky to accomplish 300-350whp on 96oct (102ROZ) and a Garrett GT2871R and how much boost I have to go? You guys may got some expirience with this charger and your tune.

That is more than achievable with high quality gas like 96 octane. You should hit 300whp on that turbo at around 10-11psi very easily. We can go a bit higher on 96, but we'll have to play with that a bit back and forth to see the particular limits of your fuel.

Sincerely,

Zach

Update:

Some of you may have noticed that throttle response from a dead stop may be less than ideal in the Flash & Go. This is something we've noted and been working at addressing for quite awhile.

Not anymore! We've figured out the best way to approach this hiccup, and eliminated it from the Flash & Go altogether. All tunes sent out after today will no longer experience this issue.

If you are experiencing this issue and would like a tune update, please email me here: sales@delicioustuning.com.com

EDIT: An important point to note is that due to the nature of this fix, it can only be applied to tunes on Version 18 and newer. If you are on an older version of the tune, you will first need to update it.

Sincerely,

Zach

I care the most about how your tune performs on a race track and you've aced that. This is icing on the cake, noticeably smoother for me - thank you!

Thanks Zach! Spent the last few days driving around on the update and it's definitely smoothed things out on the low end and starting from a stop. Glad you guys figured it out!
