I don't really understand this sentiment I see a lot here. Not everyone is made of money. What if you can't afford the v8? what if your budget is $27k? what if they don't have an extra $10k lying around (>1/3 price increase)? what car do you recommend for these people?

for $27k, the i4 camaro or mustang might be the fastest car for your money. For 30k the v6 camaro and mustang are probably the fastest car for your money. for $37k the v8s are the fastest car for your money.

The whole line represents a great value for those who are looking for a road course capable car.

Having had a mustang GT , you don't want anything less than a v8. Those cars are heavy as shit and I'm not buying into the whole it's so fast with a four cylinder thing.

LOL if you think the Camaro is still a muscle car.

Do some research on it and you will find that the Camaro is a sports car now that can double as a muscle car.

The weight of the 2.0 Auto is only ~3339 lbs and has a better power/weight ratio than a FRS.

Still a muscle car but now it can double as a sports car is the way I see it. The first gens weighed in at just over 3,000 pounds and were part of what started the whole term "muscle cars" so weight is not a defining feature of what makes them fit the category just one aspect.

I would think people on this forum if anywhere could understand how some people could afford a $27k car and can't afford a $37k car.

Out of the options available for a $27k sports car, the i4 camaros and mustangs are a great value. What is the competition at that level?

They are faster in a straight line and on road courses than competitors (brz/86, mx-5, gti, fist, wrx) except maybe the genesis 3.8.

the trope of the shitty non v8 mustang/camaro has been dead for a while. stop living in the late 90's and open your eyes to the post-bankruptcy domestics that are making decent cars.

Glad to see this thread is still going on. I've been away from these forums for a bit. This car along with the Mustang are moving into a new generation of sports coupe to compete with the Europeans. The only real muscle car left is the Challenger. The focus is moving on to track times, handling, and weight reduction.

I'm trying to determine what my next car will be. I do love the Camaro, but there are some things that bug me with it. Visibility is beyond horrendous, it's a bit rough of a ride, and the price.

The Mustang gives a lot more practicality for a daily street driven car. No doubt the Camaro is a track monster though. It beats the Mustang consistently on the track and it takes a modded Mustang to keep up with the new Camaro.

That being said, I like both cars for what they are. Seems like the Camaro is going for all out performance though. One of the many reasons why the sales numbers aren't there for Chevy.

It's also nice to see Chevy bringing out so many new variants so quick. New 1LE, ZL1 announced. All we've seen from Ford is a GT350 and GT350R and that was a while ago. I'm almost scared to see what the Z/28 will contain.

Finally saw a 16 Camaro

Very nicely done. Looks so much better so much sleeker. Looks smaller more aggressive. Less gawdy less lunky. The car looks light and tight. I'd like to drive one

Okay thats all

Drove one on the weekend and my only real comment is that is almost there. I did not like the seating position although it is improved from the last gen it still feels bathtub like but I could probably get used to it. The visibility is a bit better but again they are still a bit off the mark. They are headed in the right direction for handling and it would probably do well on a track but I found the steering response a tad sluggish compared to the FRS. It does of course go like hell when you launch! Overall I would probably not even have noticed many of the issues if not used to the FRS since they are not nearly as pronounced as the last couple of gens of the car.
As much as I hate to say it, after driving the Camaro and the newest 'Stang if I was looking for a new Pony car today I would go with the Mustang (I have always hated Mustangs) since it just is a bit ahead of the Chev.

On a related note in order for the guy let me drive the Camaro I had to let him try my car. He is a track fiend and a way better driver than I am so he pushed the old girl to the limits on some back roads. He had a huge smile on his face the whole time and even though a die hard Chev guy (never owned anything but) his final comment was "This thing is sweeeeeet. I never would have guessed. I could own one of these."

I don't think there is a car as perfect as the twins besides Miata.

Oh Ya I guess that sort of matters!
It is a 1 SS MT with the suspension, brake and some of the interior upgrades. It cost him $52K (plus all fees, taxes etc) with the upgraded packages.
