anyone who buys a 2016 or old model is dumb anyway, the 2017 has a lot more power.

very well executed troll i must say. but even if it had 250 hp, i would prefer the lower power than have that ugly front end.

I just test drove one of the cars seen in the OP search results. A new FR-S in Steel going for 23k. I was hoping that the 2017 refresh would come with an improved interior, since I really dislike the center console design and HVAC controls on the existing models. Since that's not happening, I figured I might as well shop the current market for a good deal.

I would prefer Halo and without a spoiler, but the only one they had in white was an auto and I want a manual. Having never shopped at a Scion dealer, I asked if they would negotiate on the price. I even told them that although the car is not exactly the one I want, if they would come down a little more on the price we could close the sale. They wouldn't do it. They were pretty serious about the pure pricing policy, and the price they advertise is the only price they can accept.

Interesting story on the test drive- there was a weird smell and sound coming from the engine bay on my test drive. The salesman dismissed it, of course, but I knew something was amiss. So I pulled over and popped the hood and inside the engine compartment there was a family of rabbits that had made a nice little home against the transmission bell housing. They were visibly terrified. I can only imagine how it must of been for them as I ran through some slalom maneuvers on an empty road behind the dealership, and then did a nice brake test from 60. Poor guys. Who knows how long it's been since anyone else test drove that car. I bet they spent the whole winter in there without ever being bothered until I showed up.

I'll keep an eye on that car as I look at some other options, including lightly used models. I like the red stitched knee pads and other little upgrades on the 2015+ models, but I'm tempted to save some money and buy a 2013 Hot Lava. The car looks really nice in that color.

Check out this sweet 2016 RS2.0 in red:
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...5149/overview/

Or this somehow heavily modified brand new BRZ:
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...6459/overview/

Some of the new car listings on cars/autotrader are pretty good lol

Look around for a 14 Monogram. The console is the same (you get used to it) but it has different HVAC controls (same as a BRZ).

Seems like a general trend is people buy them and use them for a year and trade off for something with power.

Or bigger since the demographic is predominantly people smack in the breeding years.

Please provide info that there is a tend for selling for more power.

My car was traded off with like 3,000 miles on it for an STI.

I know of multiple people that traded for a WRX or STI and a couple for corvettes.

You see threads about it all the time here, it just happens. After crunching numbers I think it would be much easier/cheaper to trade off the car for something else.

You FI the car and run in to reliability issues (don't say it is ALWAYS in the tune...) and then you have to build a block. The car still isn't THAT fast even with FI. It is a rabbit hole for sure, but this car in particular seems to be overly expensive to modify for what it is, and it takes a lot to make it have more than mid 200 HP to the wheels.

It is what it is.....

Oh not doubting it happens but I think there are probably way more guys that keep it much longer than a year even on here. The relative handful that have traded does not constitute a trend in any fashion.

I think there is more than a handful..... probably no "real" statistics.

I've had mine for over two years now and the local Subaru people seem like they never keep a brz.

Bought mine new in 2012, and it will die with me.

So at this point in time you just hang out here to convince people it is underpowered? I thought better of you.
Not sure your local "Subaru people" is a good control sample to be setting a trend line against.
