FRS fire sale?
I was on cars.com looking at new FRS prices for giggles and saw some crazy prices. Idk if they are bait and switches, but if you're around these areas and aren't big fans of the 86 facelift, there are some serious deals for you...

There are probably 'fire selling' all Scion models because Scion as a brand will cease to exist in 2017.
ps- those prices are super low though. |

Slow sales, refreshed model on the way, dead brand. Only way to prove they aren't bait and switch is to go see them for yourself. Advertising '15s with <10 miles on the odometer? Nobody should be surprised they're not big sellers in the snowbelt and rural areas.
fwiw, if the airfare and gas for the return drive works out cheaper than buying locally totally go buy a car far away, especially new. I had the chance to fly up to Washington to pick up a Hot Lava, but I chickened out and I regret it. A roadtrip is a great way to knock out the break in period, much lower risk of going to see the car and being disappointed compared to buying private party. Don't forget to vary your rpms. |

This is to be expected: 1) Scion is now officially dead, they have essentially 3 months to ditch that inventory so obviously they need to be coaxed out quickly so expect deals 2)The FR-S is not a fast seller, its a rwd sports car, regardless of all the enthusiasts that love it, it doesn't sell well with civilians, the non car people So it's usual that those sit on the lot for at least 5-6 months. No self respecting salesmen would want that, in fact my friends mom works for a local Nissan dealers internet sales team and controls inventory, and they especially hate ordering 370zs in for that very reason. I have yet to find a local dealer selling the FR-S at those crazy prices, at 22k it kills CPO prices, hopefully a car enthusiast snatches it up, maybe someone with a 2013 will sell there's for a 2015/2016 because at that price if you're paid off you may easily get it for around $10-$11k after trade in.......

Why do they call them Bases, even the base model isn't base aside for maybe some audio equip. I think these prices are pretty damn good for a real sportscar. Can't beat it with a stick

Great pricing, almost tempted to trade up to a 2016.

Because they are base models and not special editions or cars with options. Base models does not mean they don't have anything it just means there is nothing below it. Most "base" models now have way more then the FRS does.

Need to check your region. I will be willing to bet that the areas where the cars have sold better will never see a drop like that. The only way those dealers are cutting those prices that far is because the regional office has given them a price break. Those retails are well below dealer cost I am sure.

My 2015 that I bought four months ago was $22,467 before TTL, but it was a 400-mile demonstrator. It was listed as new on Cars.com, but I figured it was a demo at that price and the dealer confirmed my suspicion before I made the trip to buy it.
Every example within a day trip of me is still $24k+. Before you buy your plane ticket, ask about the car's history. Dealers can sell a "new" car that has been pre-loved or dent-repaired. |

In northeast Ohio, its around $26-28k. Might be able to use this as a negotiating tactic, though. "Pure price" is still in play, but you may be able to argue a higher trade-in value as a cost offset.
