OpenFlash Manager problem

Hi all,

I'm a little new to my OFT--bought it used a couple months ago and the guy I bought it from helped me marry it to my car and upload a stage1 tune, and hadn't really touched it since.

I've been trying to update to the most recent tune files, and I'm running into some trouble.

I've created a Windows7 virtual machine and installed OpenFlash Manager, and downloaded the new tunes. I can connect my OFT no problem, and it has updated to firmware 1.35. I was able to download the newest tune package and install it via the "ModFiles Database" option.

However, when I try to "Upload" and select which tunes to make available, I'm running into a problem. I can select the appropriate tunes into the slots, and the checksum is recalculated, but when I press "Start" nothing happens. The button doesn't appear to be disabled, but it doesn't press, and nothing gets uploaded to the tablet.

I would appreciate any help!

latest tune pack is not "mod files database" they are individual tunes (complete roms) in a zip file.

Un zip the tune pack.

Then navigate through the folders to fing the tune you want

ie C series is for USA manual
D series for USA auto

point openflash manager to the appropriate tune in the upload screen (not mod file database) the individual tune upload, you should see five tune slots to upload tunes to.

you may have to delete some old ones to make room for new ones

see the OFT TIPS link below

Thanks for the response Steve.

I tried this--I deleted the old tunes from the tablet(which worked correctly--the only thing on the tablet right now is my original stock tune), and selected the new A01C tunes that I wanted from the unzipped file structure. But when I go to "Step 3" and press the "Start" button, nothing happens. The button doesn't press, and nothing is uploaded.

did you select a tune to load first before selecting start. you can select several tunes for the slots and it just get ready to load, then when you hit start it goes off and actually get and loads tunes. wen you select the tune its name should appear in the slot (which you can edit).

if it still does not work ring the oft guys they all use mac's , I assume that why your using virtual machine.

Yeah, I had selected the tunes before pressing start. Tried both editting the tune name, and leaving it alone. I guess I'll drop Shiv a line.

All my machines are either Mac or Windows10 (which I've read somewhere there might be problems calculating checksums correctly?), so I installed a VM.

I've been successfully using OFM 1.25.1 in Win10 just fine. I've not gotten a successful install of ROMRaider yet, but OFM gives no errors or signs of any hassle and OFT hasn't complained once about accepting a tune.

(looks for wood to knock on)

Romraider works fine for me on Win10 64 bit, I just unzip romraider straight from the romraider site to a folder with my tunes in it.

It's the dependence on old 32bit JRE. I already had the 64bit JRE installed that I needed for a tool that let me convert Minecraft maps to useful geometry for a project a few months ago and was the only reason I ever had any Java installed.

I googled up whether or not you could run both the 32bit and 64bit and the consensus seemed to be there was no issue, so I installed the 32bit JRE as well. The ROM Raider install script, which I'm assuming is Java based, never finishes after giving the warning about JRE.

I set it aside for the time being out of disgust but will eventually uninstall both JREs and re-install the 32bit version and try again. Razing and starting over is generally the course of action for most Windoze issues.

What? There is no install script, on the romraider site it's just a zip, you drag it over and open it's self contained and all the pointers for the file are within that folder. I always get a java warning on startup btw.

Yeah, "what".

RomRaider0.5.9RC2-setup.exe is a goddamn installer, not the executable, and that was the contents downloaded from link at OFT.

Double click and lookee-lookee, it's an lzPack "Installation of RomRaider", with immediate "Java Runtime Warning" specifying that both the application AND INSTALLER require the 32bit JRE. It goes further at the bottom to suggest I "Quit" and exit the installer. Why? Does it detect a problem with the JRE? It doesn't say, it's unclear, is it error, is just being careful in case folks don't have JRE installed? Who knows. I've got it installed so I hit "Next".

Now it has a page about release notes, blah blah, boring. "Next".

"I accept the terms of this license agreement." "Next".

Destination folder...it's wanting to go into the 64bit folder but I fix that, so it can get out of the "x86" folder when it puts its big boy pants on and runs 64bit JRE. "Next".

...and fail. Next screen is blank. Just sits there.

Just got mine yesterday and was looking all over trying to figure out what the different lettered Roms meant. D Series is what I need. Also is there a list of what each tune consists of? Thanks
