It's not a perfect solution if you're tall. Here's a copy-paste from my post on the fb group:

Quote:
First day impressions:
I got the Essex bar over the agency power for two reasons: (1) so I could still fold my rear seats down; and (2) because you have to cut the bottom mount of the agency power bar if you want to move your seat all the way back.

On point (1), the bar is perfect. I can still lower the rear seats and have easy access from the front as well. It remains to be seen how much it will interfere with the many jugs of E85 I'll have to shove back there, though.

For point (2), it's mixed. It's true that I didn't have to cut or remove any of the bar to make it fit with the seat all the way back. Unfortunately, the bar is located further forward than the agency power bar. This means that when I have my seat in the normal position for DD, the bar rubs against the rear of the seat and creaks a little over bumps. It also means that I can only recline OR have the seat back; never both. Consequently, this isn't the solution for tall people that I hoped it would be.

One final point: I believe the agency power crosspiece can be removed fairly easily, meaning you can use your rear seats in a pinch. The Essex bar, however, isn't going anywhere. I'd have to tear out the whole interior to remove it.
It's really nice being secure in the seat. I'm happy I made the upgrade. That being said, I'm already looking at aftermarket seats so I can have a sub strap.

Edit: example of how close it is to the seat, and this isn't even all the way back.

Don't harness bars exist that fold up out of the way? Or am I imagining that?

The agency power can allegedly be installed or removed in 15 minutes, if you have help. Not sure about others. This one isn't going anywhere--would probably take me 2 hours to remove by myself.

And I'd imagine that any folding part would just be a weakness in case of a crash.

I was just about to ask you why Essex over Agency bar. You read my mind. An Agency Power bar came up on Craigslist for cheap (has since been sold), but after reading your review, I'd go with the Essex bar if paying retail.

HPDE. I wouldn't have gotten such beefy (and pricey ) equipment if I didn't plan to use it.

Edit: although the color choice was naturally for aesthetic purposes.

Installed my Sparco EVO seat, with Sparco base/sliders/side mounts.

Have to say I am kind of peeved that it only saves barely 5# of weight over the stock seats Needs some adjustment as well on the side mounts to get it lower, right now I cannot fit in the car with my helmet on, argh! They did a good job with the stock seats, I am honestly not sure I will even keep the EVO and might swap the stock seat back in.

It does, however, look very cool

Maybe I saw the adjustable rods on some of the other bars and thought they were gas pistons/shocks

5lbs? How much EVO seat weight?!?!?! Isn't OEM driver side seat weight 43.6lbs? Bride Vios III weight 12~15lbs (excluding the rails).

The EVO seat by itself is very light (I couldn't find exact weight).

With the side mounts/slider/seat base installed, my EVO weighed in at 37.4#. It's all the mounting hardware that is heavy, especially the base mount and side mounts.

My stock seat weighed in at 43.2#.

Definitely pricey but quality is amazing with the Essex harness bar.

Sparco website claim EVO weight 6.2kg... that's 13.7lbs. That's damn light... but rail that kills you. That's crazy!
