Just got my 2013 BRZ and love it! Few questions about certified used.

Hello everyone, I just got my 2013 BRZ and I love it.

The BRZ I got is a certified used model. But after accepting delivery and giving it a good wash I noticed the hood has spots where the clear coat has come off and there is a bunch of chips and tiny dents in the front bumper near the bottom along the whole length and a few scratches on the car longer than an inch.

Shouldn't all of that been repaired since it is certified used? They repaired the windshield because it had a chip in it and they were supposed to fix anything else when they did the certified inspection. After reviewing the certified checklist it seems like the problems with the paint I mentioned should have been fixed?

Any insight into this would be appreciated. I've already reached out earlier today to the salesman I worked with about the problems but they haven't replied back. I'll probably call them after work to make sure they got my message.

How did you not notice this before buying?

It was a bit later in the day when i initially looked at and test drove the car, after that it was in their shop for the windshield and you don't quite see the missing clear from every angle.

The color of my car is Dark Metallic Gray too which to me makes it harder to see these types of things.

Also, after giving the car a good wash things become more clear.

Weird that paint was even on the checklist. When I was shopping for a certified used car, they made sure all components operated correctly, and safety features were functional. No MAJOR body damage, and that was about it. Scratches and paint problems usually aren't dealt with unless the dealership wants to go above and beyond, but why would they?

Here is their 152 point checklist I'm referring to from the Subaru website.

http://www.subaru.com/content/downlo...014_update.pdf

If I'm reading it correct my cosmetic issues should have fell into the fix it spectrum correct?

you can try, but since you already accepted the car as it was, you are likely SOL on getting anything fixed.

That was my fear.

Worst case scenario I touch it up as best as I can with the clear pen and Subaru touch up paint I have coming and later down the road either repaint the two parts or get a nicer hood and front bumper.

I understand this is partly my fault for not being more anal when initially looking at the car if I can't get them to do anything.

As I was doing the final inspection before I signed the paperwork I noticed some dings and minor scratches. The salesman (whom I've bought three cars from before this one) cut me short and said I've already given you the best price possible so either live with the imperfections or move on. At the time I was working in NYC so I knew the car was going to look worse quickly so I shut my mouth and that was that.

I think you should try to contact them unless you get any particular reply. I mean, how can this happen? You must bring these things to their notice.
