So I finally got around to trying update again. Luckily this time it took the update without any issue. I think the file might of been corrupted the first time I tried.

has anyone looked into this harness? https://www.carjoying.com/joying-har...ess-cable.html
It lists the BRZ as a supported model and seems to have most of the stock connectors broken out. It also includes the radio antenna adapter (blue wire is connected also, not sure what that wire does). It looks like the only extra harness required is the USB connector. Thoughts? -Matt |

I used a Toyota to iso adapter, and for antenna I think a Skoda fakra to iso. You only need the two standard Toyota plugs. What I read, so every scion had a amplifier for audio? I would pin it out and connect it to the amp cable from the HU. Reverse signal is the single green cable that goes behind the cluster. |

THat one looks nearly perfect! (would rather have a next/prev button instead of navi/source)
Couple of questions. 1) Anything you don't like about it? 2) How hard is it to get to work with 2016 FRS stock reverse camera? 3) Are the LED colors adjustable? 4) Does it have a screen auto-off mode? Thanks! |

I think it's possible to bind buttons new with a custom Rom. There is also a 7" version with GPS and a source button Couple of questions. 1) Anything you don't like about it? Yeah, some little things, but mostly android 4.4.4 related. For example "long" loading time for USB stick (still plugged in) Or the app that you bind with the GPS button mutes all other sounds the hole time. OEM apps not always what I lock for, simply exchange with regular market apps( Google now launcher, power amp, vlc....) 2) How hard is it to get to work with 2016 FRS stock reverse camera? I had a non oem rear cam on my tas300 Toyota head unit. You ned a video cinch, power for the cam from backing light or from head unit 3) Are the LED colors adjustable? Yes RGB 4) Does it have a screen auto-off mode? Latest oem firmware has a screen off button in the status bar. Maybe simply install a standard android locks screen? |

so, I pulled the trigger on the toyota specific version of this head unit. Install went great for me. I only had to file down the lower locating pins on the stock brackets. The top pins had appropriate holes. I also didn't need to slot the holes as others have mentioned, my trim went back on just fine. I might still slot the holes slightly to seat the unit a bit farther back in the dash but it's working fine for now.
One interesting thing I noticed, there are two RCA cables in the stock dash wiring that are capped and taped up in the back of the dash cavity... I'm assuming they're for a subwoofer option or something. Does anyone know where the end up in the car? Do they have RCA connectors at the other end as well? Also, does anyone know which antenna is located on the metal bracket behind the stereo? It's either the XM radio or the GPS antenna but I'm not sure which. I'm now off to XDA forums to look for a new ROM |

Welcome to the club. I didn't notice those capped RCA wires when I installed mine. Now I'm curious lol.

The antenna I was talking about is the black box in the green circle. I'm assuming it's the XM antenna. You can follow the short lead from that box that's covered in the grey foam. It leads to the green coax cable in the foreground. I didn't pay attention to where it plugged in on the stock head unit so or I would know for sure if it's GPS or XM. |

The german/Europe gt86 is almost completely different in those parts, GPS is behind the gauge cluster, no external amp,..... Only the two old Toyota plugs maybe the same haha
