Nobody's really posted any instructions for a backup cam, but the trigger wire needs to be manually soldered to the correct pin on the existing harness, and I had to splice power as well. The harness I bought didn't have that.
Getting the software to work the way I wanted to is a pain though. In total, I've spent ~6-8 hours trying to get it to work the way I want it to, including flashing new roms and stuff. Most of this was me being curious, and playing around though. It's as complicated as you make it.
I installed a camera months ago and for the most part it was pretty straight forward. A little trial and error as first time ever doing one. I remember I grabbed some extra wire lying around and used that as a trigger wire, from the units harness. Just tapped it into the reverse light itself in the back. So when the light turned on so would the camera and the unit would know to show. I looked for a while for the factory reverse wire up front but could not find it. So I came up with the above. Been installed for months with no issues since.

Repinning pins 8 to 9 is that for the factory amp and door speakers?

Stock firmware out of the box oddly only gives you a GB for apps. The custom firmware from malaysk changes partitions to allow the 16gb storage for apps and such. You'll need to install the custom firmware in order to utilize it.

But no update, full flash (from boot menu)

Finally had time to wire up my Joying head unit for the door speakers. Used an empty 28-pin harness (harvested from an AX-TOY28SWC adapter I stripped) to connect to my 2016 BRZ's 28pin connector and pinned position 9 with the head unit's amp turn on wire (orange wire labeled amp and coming out of the head unit). Door speakers are now functional again.

Debating if I wanna wire in my stock reverse camera. I've noticed I can reverse better and faster without it. Haha.

Ok, so I really do not know where to start with these XDA options. lol.

I would like to change out the interface to the Malysk? Unless someone has a recommended option. How do I know if my radio is compatible with the right download?

And what is up with the Weather not working on these? I have the Joying quad-core unit.

Read the first page of the xda thread. Basically mcu is specific to the exact unit while firmware can be interchanged between any unit having the same processor and resolution.

I dont know if this is old or not. But it looks like Joying now sells 5.1 Android systems.Currently only some generic and VW ones. But I guess Toyota ones should pop up soon.

https://www.carjoying.com/android-5-...ereo-2din.html

It doesnt look like they have upgraded any of the specs , its still quad core 1.6ghz and 1GB Ram.

I'm sure 5.1 roms will be ported to our older units now that they are selling units with it. Malaysk will work his magic

Looks like theres no point in me waiting any longer , I dont think any upgraded spec model is going to be coming out. Might as well hop on to these 5.1 units once they come out with a Toyota spec.

Btw is this the only plugnplay system for our Cars?
https://www.carjoying.com/quad-core-...vr-steeri.html

I would like to use something that has a slightly bigger screen and less buttons.
Kinda like this
https://www.carjoying.com/newest-joy...rror-link.html

But it looks like the dimensions are different , anyone on here tried other Universal Joying units? What brackets would I need to use?
