but you should be able to read diagnostics or ecu info, the lock should only effect read/write of a tune file.

if it wont read diagnostic or ecu info then might be problem with obd port, check if any pins pushed back in obd socket in car.

if you have another obd device like android torque or obd reader does that work ?
Pins are in the cable..There's are no pins on the one attached to the car..all the pins look ok on the oft cable.

mes the sockets are loose or get pushed back in connector in car.

also try putting forwards or backwards pressure on plug in obd socket this can somes get it to connect if you keep pressure on it, some cars the obd sockets are loose and don't contact oft plug pins well.

also make sure other end of cable it plugged into oft firmly

if you have a friend with an 86 see if your oft will get ecu info or diagnostics from their car.

note you may see your old rom calid like A00C or something but the actual rom in car is based on B01C.

Ah, that's good enough for me. I don't necessarily like the idea of putting back the sick ROM when taking it to the dealer but I doubt anyone's going to be revving it out.

I've got some more logging to do, I've just had a devil of a time getting any stretches where there aren't a lot of folks around and I'm clear for a smooth pull all the way in third at light throttle. But what I've seen is a bit of knock still in the 3400-4000 range, but not so much doing a smooth, slow pull, but it spikes if I change gears between 3000-4000, which is typically my sweet spot for normal driving.

I'm down almost to a half a tank and plan to run it down to the light. I still think I got some crap gas for it to be a solid 1 of daily driving for weeks and then overnight dropping to .7 after a fill-up but perhaps good logs will tell a more complete story.

Another thing I wanted to ask about, because I saw this as well, is seeing knock with throttle input at low RPM in a high gear. I'm looking for the post now but I think it was you who said that would happen. Fairly minor throttle input in 6th at under 3000 RPM spikes a bit of knock. That's really normal?

What about during shift changes? I'd have to look and see if it's during the RPM dip or going back on throttle in the new gear but I've seen that too. All of that seems like it would pull IAM down as well, or do you eventually get a map that takes all of this out with enough work in ROM Raider?

I changed some timing on the lowest octane available here just to be safe, thanks to Wayno and steve99.
It usually knocks (tip-in) in the 3000-4000rpm range (pref. 6th gear), this is normal.

Now i am at a point where no FLKC is showing up, only 1-2 little FBKC spikes up to -0.69 over a 15min timeframe. IAM all the time at 1.

If FLKC&FBKC is less than -1, ignore it. Even with IAM at 1.

With Wayno's Rom i never had seen IAM drop. With the OTS Stg 1 from Shiv it usually was between 1 and 0.7.

Just keep in mind, that the "knock" you are see in your logs could be false-knock.

It's real enough to be pulling timing overnight from 1 to .7 and I've only seen it rise the somewhere in the .80-88 range since where for the first two weeks it was a solid .97-1 and I want to get it back at 1. I felt the difference that first morning after it had been running so great getting onto the feeder ramp.

Could you post the logs where your IAM is dropping?

Nope. I wasn't logging to file when I watched the dip happen, but I was right it was the gas because once that passed I shot back up to IAM of 1 and it's been holding there a little over a week now when I've checked every other day.
