Am I missing something here. That Alpine is pretty much the same amount of ugly. That's pretty much like trying to decide between the two ugly women left at the bar at 3 in the morning. In the morning it really doesn't matter. Ugly is ugly.

My take on the factory radio is function over form. I am very curious to hear it. It has a sub output. If it sounds halfway decent just adding a sub and upgrading the factory speakers should make for ok performance. That's what I plan to do.

Besides, this is a sports car. Shouldn't we be more concerned with listening to the car?

I'm not really liking the stock head unit anymore. The playlist feature is slowing starting to eat away at me. I hate that you have to press the playlist button, then select playlist, then the playlist you want, then the song. But what kills me is that you can't go back to the same playlist. At least not that I've found. You have to repeat that same process over and over again.

If there's a way around that, please let me know. I use an iPod touch BTW.

well, the alpine junk was just somethign to compare at the crappy 199 price range -but this pioneer unit --from best buy is only 499. it does more than the stupid bespoke does and its still pioneer like the stock but hell better.
this is what im thinking about - just the bigger interface/screen and display is really growing on me - i can see this in my FRS soon.... i may go talk to someoone about getting the factory harness to plug right in and see what happens...

maybe in the coming months ... but pioneer makes so many nice units i jsut dont get why scion put such a dum unit in here -- some of us want a few nice things -- the least they can do for forgeting the handrest and additional storage inside.. heheh

i still love this car but i think i will love it even more with this screen -- i already have a goofy 5" garmin from costco and i just cant find a decent place for it in this tiny car - i might as well consolidate when possible.

I am just fine with the stock head unit once I changed the car setting from tC to FR-S. Sounds great, and is simple to use.
