I asked about the dealer delivery difference between the Max $1835(?) and what my dealer is claiming, $2400ish, he said that all dealers charge different and that it's based on area. This is QLD BTW.

Nardi am I right to only accept what the website drive away price is? Or do I have to pay that extra because my dealer said so?

Mr Franky, as long as your price is equal or lower than the driveaway price as shown on the website (assume no option) then u will be alright. It doesn't really matter what the exact dealer delivery is unless the final price is higher than driveaway on TMCA site.

I got quoted $40140 for White GTS Manual. That's a good $550 more than what's advertised on the website. How can I get them to reduce the price if they already told me they wont?

Have u spoken to the sales manager at your dealer? Or it's the sales that said they won't change it? If u haven't, speak to the sales manager. If he isn't helpful then suggest to him that u will call TMCA to discuss this.

I'd just call TMCA directly if the above fail and see what they say. If they are not helpful then suggest to them that u will speak to office of fair trading. But I'd think TMCA will resolve it.

But b4 u do, get your tracking username and password so they can't play games with u like giving your car to somebody else.

Not sure if the Victorians out there are aware that as of next month rego and stamp duty go up? 3% now for stamp duty and extra 50 bucks on rego so that would probably add a couple of hundred bucks to the cost, which dealers may not tell you and wait until delivery to hit u up for the difference.

Managed to get my dealer to stick clauses in the contract that they will pay for any stamp duty, rego and Toyota price rises.

GTS manual in white, 39500

Btw, be aware that as of Friday dealers have received an email bulletin from TMCA saying they aren't allowed to sell below the RRP listed on the site for your state.

I think you may have misquoted the bulletin mate. I can't speak for Victorian Dealers as i am not necessarily privvy to their TMCA memo's , however, the one we received does not say that.

I find it difficult to believe Toyota will charge you the increased price if prices rise by the time you take delivery. Maybe I should ask them to put this clause into my contract?

It's a standard clause in any motor vehicle contract, and considering the wait times for the car, there's a real chance it could happen. Happens all the time for other cars. If the RRP goes up by thousands of dollars the dealer isn't gonna cop it themselves if it's in the contract. You have an out to void the contact in that event, but the reality will be that you give up your car and they can easily get someone else who's willing to pay the new price.

In regards to the lack of discount, all I can go on is the bulletin I read off the screen, and the difference in reception from dealers I spoke to on Thursday and then Friday onwards, which is when dealers would've gotten the email. On thursday, most dealers were quoting me 39k or slightly below, with plenty of encouragement to come in and deal. After Friday I got a more frosty reception (whether this was just the dealers being different or the effects of the bulletin who knows) but they had no intention of going below 39.5k and some were telling me to wait a year if my intention was to get any discount.

Whilst I didn't get a discount I did get a significant amount of accessories thrown in but that probably as far as I'll disclose to be fair to the dealer.

Thanks for all the info! Looks like my idea of getting a discount is getting smothered by the day..oh well. If you don't mind sharing, which dealership was this?

Fair to the dealer? U was fair to the dealer picking him... It would be fair to us ur fellow members to know so we have a better understanding an attitude when seeking out our own deal and avoiding some of the less confident guys on here from getting ripped off...

Seriously it helps others and that's what these forums r all about..

May I ask on behalf of others and myself, apart from possible tint what other "significant" amount of accessories were included?

Ft86God out of curiosity how long ago was that when they gave you a price?
Was it just only 1 sales guy that you had dealt with while you were there?
