5hp/5tq will be insignificant tbh.
Pack is getting bored! Couple of years with a DOHC and it will be "really wish these had a rotary". Few year of that and it will be "I sort of miss my boxer".
It is the age old story of the car guy!

I was never ever the fan of the noise of an inline 4 of any time. They have to put fart cans on them for a reason.

Even the boxer 4 is grating at times. Even more so when the girl I'm seeing now started going in on me about the car sounding "farty". I guess that's what I get for dating a girl who works at Chrysler

straight 6 is nice but v8/v10? *goosebumps*

There's also the sound of a sweet undersquare straight 4 coming on to the pipe at 12K. I miss riding but I'm glad I survived it.

Dafuq you call me brah?

Also, the sound of my '99 R6 at full chat (11.3k??? Rpm, or something, can't remember exactly) with a half muffler was something to behold. Probably for the best that the engine blew 10 days after I bought it. 120HP on a bike is not something a 19 year old should have. Been pining for another bike for the past 5 years now. Maybe at the end of this summer I'll buy another...

If you're serious, I'll trek out to London for it, and buy you a beer or two.

I am. It is just shoved in the shed and will sit there for decades. Not worth anything and I will never put it back on so if you want it then it is yours.

Yeah, it's best to work up to that kind of juice. Age is definitely a factor but some people never learn to respect it. They don't live long.

I was on a 125 CBR before the R6 for about 20 days, decided I needed (felt like/wanted/young age hubris/whatever you want to call it) more power. Got the R6, took it up to 220kmh on back roads daily, and was hooked.

Looking back, it was a blessing in disguise that the engine threw a rod, and I was too broke at the time to fix it. I was that perfect combo of young, stupid and inexperienced to become a candidate for organ donation. A few months after that, dad got drunk, and kind of broke down when he told me about the time he almost died as a 14 year old (riding illegally, without a license on some back roads near the homestead) after he crashed his Yamaha 350 in '75. I got lucky as hell that I didn't get into a speed wobble, as I had no idea how to recover from it at the time. Now when I look back, I kick myself for getting rid of the 125 CBR, that would be an awesome around town run about if I still had it.

I love a good sharp bump in the torque curve. It doesn't necessarily win races but the feels....

The article has been edited and updated but the quote is on the second page of comments to article.
The article now says:
"Cars for the US will make another 5hp and 5lb ft (to 205hp and 156lb ft), but emissions regs prevent those changes from making it to UK cars."

I dont remember what the original article said but the power/torque numbers were discussed in the commens section and led to the author contacting Toyota U.K.

The authors comment after contacting Toyota is the second comment on page 2 of the comments section.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...t=1581445&i=20

"You've got it! We've just had confirmation from Toyota GB that facelifted cars here won't get the power and gearing tweaks "due to emission restraints". Shame frown"

Hence my question, because there is a possibillity that he answer isnt correct.
Thanks a lot, bilen.
I will just wait and see if these words will be true when the facelift model actually goes on-sale.

Only time will tell at this point though.
Much as I respect you Tcoat, you're well wide of the mark here - pistonheads is far from a clickbait blog. It's a pretty serious and well known site that employs proper motoring journalists (Chris Harris is a former PH writer/reviewer) and doesn't indulge in random speculation or stories from unidentified inside sources. They've previously run a GT86 as a long-term test car and also had access to the "Heritage" 86s that Toyota built with classic liveries. They will have official contacts at Toyota GB, so "We've just had confirmation from Toyota GB" means it's the current official Toyota line.
ETA: Not sure what you're expecting from Toyota - they're not likely to advertise that UK cars won't get the increased power/torque that US cars will be getting. All that Toyota GB will do is not make reference to engine changes, like their official news story here. The US Toyota website here does hint at the power increase.

Bear in mind that Toyota already tweaked the car last year to meet the current Euro 6 emission requirements, which suggests the 86 is probably near the limits without making further changes. For PM and CO, the limits seem to be lower for Euro 6 than LEV III; although that doesn't take into account differences in the test cycle between Europe and Cali - which could also be a factor in whether or not certain changes comply with the limits.
