I have clear side markers(helix) that got condensation in them that burnt out my amber led bulbs. Been a few months now but haven't been pulled over yet!

R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).

Identification lamps

(11) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every commercial motor vehicle or combination of a commercial motor vehicle and a trailer having a length in excess of 9.2 metres or a width in excess of 2.05 metres shall carry three lighted lamps displaying green or amber lights at the front, except in the case of a public vehicle which shall display amber lights at the front, and three lighted lamps displaying red lights at the rear, and the lights of each colour shall be evenly placed not less than 150 millimetres nor more than 310 millimetres apart along a horizontal line as near the top of the commercial motor vehicle or combination of a commercial motor vehicle and a trailer as the permanent structure permits, and shall be visible for distances of 150 metres from the front and rear respectively of the commercial motor vehicle or combination of a commercial motor vehicle and a trailer. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (11).

Side marker lamps

(13) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one half-hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle or combination of vehicles having a length in excess of 6.1 metres shall carry not fewer than four lighted side marker lamps, one of which shall be located on each side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles near the front and shall display a green or amber light and one of which shall be located on each side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles near the rear and shall display a red light and each of which lights shall be visible for a distance of 150 metres from the side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles upon which it is located; provided that a vehicle or combination of vehicles may carry four reflectors approved by the Ministry instead of the side marker lamps required by this section; and provided further that, if the clearance lamps upon the left side of any vehicle or combination of vehicles display lights visible for a distance of 150 metres from the left side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles, it is not necessary to carry side marker lamps as required by this subsection on the left side of the vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (13).

The way that the law is written is fucky, and open to "interpretation". I mean, at the end of the day, I don't care what colour someone's side marker lights are. Mine are amber, which is legal.

I think the first paragraph is referring to front lamps and not side markers. That being said, I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for having white side marker lights and I personally have amber bulbs so

That's the thing with the HTA, it's vague to be all encompassing for any kind of situation. I'm not going to argue that green may be acceptable for use in side markers, but I've never seen it in person. I have seen lots of people with blue, which is definitely illegal but, when has that stopped anyone?

Just another one of those discretionary things where depending on how the officer feels at the time, you might get pulled over, you might not. I'm just saying that to avoid ANY possible hassle, safest to stay with amber bulbs, since that is one colour referred to in every section.

Oh, I assumed since it wasn't moving, the RPM would be 0. Iunno, im new to this stuff.

But yeah, green side markers? wtf LOL.

I think cops won't pull you over unless they're having a bad day, or you're being really douchey. I'm gonna probably replace em into white markers and maybe a white light

These cars dont have auto start/stop engines.

The SPEEDOMETER should read zero when stopped.

Cant believe I'm actually answering this question.

I have a question- Can you get some of that Tchibo you're obviously smoking?

Yeah, thanks. My old car had the RPM's on the side and I never really paid attention to that being a family car and stuff. This time the RPM is smack in the middle and I just noticed it.

And like I said, I'm new to cars. Believe it or not, not everybody is a pro at this and it's not common knowledge lol

New to cars is fine. But understand what you're asking before you ask it. Google is your friend. Otherwise, get ready for ridicule. Because, new to cars or not, that is a DUMB question. And car forums on the internet are the WORST place to ask a stupid question because people will eat you alive. There are hundreds of basement-dwelling trolls salivating at the mouth waiting for someone to make a post like yours.

RPM stands for "Revolutions Per Minute". That translates to how many times your engine is "revolving" or "spinning" every minute.

If the engine is still running, even at idle, how could it EVER go to ZERO??

I'm sorry I'm not trying to be rude but I honestly thought that question was actually a joke or sarcasm until I read your follow up replies.

Alright, note taken.

But yeah, I thought it might be a dumb question but It's faster to just post questions here, stupid or not, since its faster and more accurate here than on google. There's no need to filter through a bunch of useless stuff. Also since this is specific to the BRZ/FRS.

See now, I thought revolutions per minute referred to wheel spin. Therefore being idle, wheel spin would be 0.

idc about trolls/flaming as long as I got my answer, which worked out. hue.

thanks doe everyone <3

I genuinely believe that in order to get a drivers license you should at the very minimum understand certain fundamental details of how a car functions. I will make sure both my son and daughter do. And no, they dont have to know how to work on cars, unless that is something that happens to interest them (doubtful). I am not a troll! I do spend a lot of time in my basement though, its full of pinball machines, cardio machines and a big TV. LOL

These people are animals, don't worry about it. If you were a hot chick everyone would just think you're cute LOL. Anyways, in America I believe you have to have an Amber reflector and probably Amber side market. Mine is white reflector white led and I haven't been pulled over yet. I doubt it's an issue. My gf has green halos, which are illegal(green) and only got stopped once in 2 years and only got a warning. I know you can get ones with white and Amber LEDs but I'm not sure when one or the other would be active, probably depends on how you wire it

New to cars is fine. Not knowing is fine. Asking a well thought out question is fine.
Asking a dumb question just because it is easier to take the harassment then to look for info is just plain fucking lazy! You will reap what you sow dude! Read the fucking manual and if you don't understand then read it again.
And then the holier then thou crowd call the rest of us trolls or animals when we get frustrated with this shit even though those same guys will rip into anybody that says anything they don't like.
