I knew this would not be a popular statement!
These people are not sitting at home with a TV (or 3) some generic shaped controllers in a stationary seat. They have equipment in the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of dollars that mimics the specific car controls and actually move. Drawing your comparison is like saying that since the astronauts train for weightlessness in big water tanks then since I have a pool home I am training at the same level.
Just because both things use the word "simulator" does not mean they are equal in the value of the training.
Hell, even the video above shows the real car bouncing all over while the "simulated" one is as smooth as driving on glass.

I want to be very clear that I am not talking about this:

I am talking about this:

All the "but the pros use it" defences are not comparing apples to apples

Big respect Tcoat, I'm only attempting to learn the curves and don't what to f up how it really feels too much thus the FFB settings to bring it at least closer to real life and not mess me up IRL. Looking to practice virtually when there is 2 inches of compacted snow slash slush on a well maintained road at least 6 months a year. ;-) And not a rally/Finish guy so have to do something... track and dry/light rain is where I want to live. And no I will not be putting 10000 down on a simulator when I can improve my 86, wouldn't even dream of it unless I was sponsored and the car was done. Thanks to those that agree with the muscle memory tactic which I'm mainly afraid of training incorrectly. But one thing is for sure it sounds like iRC and AC both have more accurate scans that will give more accurate steering feel as long as ffb gives correct feel. Plus: even the hydrolics don't simulate 1-1.5 g's I don't expect to learn anything about how my car feels in my body only braking, apex attack and exit and corner type attacks.

And again I need to be clear (I don't think I was at first) that although I did make my statement here it wasn't directed at you but the general gamers that think they can learn how a car handles from a sim. Was very clear in your first post that you actually drive track and know that the sim physics are a bit wonky.

all good

Agree whole heartedly, wonky is the key and what I really would love to minimize. Looks like I'm just running a sim that need to improve its physics.
