I suspect any similarly weighted engine, regardless of shape will affect the handling THAT much. Probably only the really dedicated track guys would notice. I'd do K24a2 myself for the torque if I had to swap. But unless you're getting a big power bump it's not worth it monetarily cuz the money you spend could go to FI, keep it below 350ish HP and reliability probably won't be an issue.

Just buy a different car. It will be way cheaper and you will be happier in the long run.

He's got a point. But if you're like me and love your FRS this just isn't an option. If I found a "cheap" way to swap say... an RC350 engine in, I would. But no American engine is gonna touch my car

im pretty sure you can use your oem tranny with a adapter plate
same way they did it for miata
