Cheat Codes . . .

I have heard that the dealer can re-program the BRZ so that the A/C (read a/c compressor) DOES NOT come on automatically when you turn on the air conditioning system.

Can anyone confirm that this possible and does anyone have the instructions on how to DIY??

Thank You

Excuse my ignorance, but why is this a useful feature? Or did you mean to say 'defroster setting' instead of the bolded?

I do not like the A/C coming-on automatically when I want heat, cold, etc. everytime I start the car. Sometimes I just want the fan NOT the A/C compressor turning on/off; wears it out in the long-in also. And "no," I did not mean de-froster.

should have got an FRS. I got a button to control my AC.

Score 1 FRS score 0 BRZ

Dual zone climate control trumps that. Sorry...

And honestly, how hard is it to just flick the switch to turn the AC off? I do it automatically when I don't want the AC running.

The BRZ Limited HVAC system has a toggle switch which allows you to control whether the compressor is on or off. Of course, when you hit the "Auto" button, the car will revert to using the A/C compressor as it helps it do its job more efficiently. The owners' manual explains this pretty well, if I recall.

There is an option in Techstream I believe, however most dealers will probably scoff at you if you ask for it to be disabled. Any wear would be miniscule if that. You could try getting a techstream cable for $20 then pirating techstream as per the forum guide on here and attempt it even though it is a BR-Z, the only option I remember when I had techstream was definitely Defroster starting the a/c compressor but this is on an FR-S with manual a/c

I'm annoyed at this also, such a weird thing to do. However I think it's because it starts off in Auto mode everytime and if your last temp settings are lower than what it's reading, it'll automatically turn on AC.

This thread...

There's an A/C button. If you don't want it running, push it until the light goes out.
