Neither one of those links is working for me.
Yeah I don't know what happened with the links. I copied and pasted them from website. I found it on Amazon. Just don't understand why they have the same unit but one goes for 300 and one goes for 329 on Amazon.

The correct one is JY-TQ123.

Welp.

As you can all tell, I'm pretty demanding of things. Especially when it comes to electronics, and even more so when it comes to devices like computers, phones, tablets, head units. My Joying came in from Amazon today, and I'm pretty blown away. As I said, it was only $300, plus $14 overnight shipping to Hawaii, of all places. To go along with it, I went on Amazon and picked up a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-34t5-Bluetooth-Android/dp/B005NLQAHS"]bluetooth OBD module[/ame] for $22, and a [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Diageng-Profile-Right-Extension-Ribbon/dp/B00EECXAY8/"]right angle OBD cable[/ame] for $8. Fully worth it, it sees every data point the ECU is providing and at high data rates. Latency is under half a second, maybe even under a quarter of a second. It's hard to eyeball, I'll put it that way.

The Joying unit is snappy. I'd even say outright fast, even when I opened a lot of random bullshit to see if I could slow it down. Running Sygic, Google Maps, Spotify, and a browser at the same time didn't bother it at all. The low screen resolution isn't noticeable, and probably helps a lot with the lower specs of the unit. I really like that they send you a plug and play harness, too. It isn't 100% with a 2016 BRZ unfortunately. I'm going to need to bridge the amp wire since Subaru moved it.

I have two complaints. The factory head unit brackets don't sit flush because of dimples that are built into the brackets that don't have corresponding holes on the head unit. Non-issue, just force it into place and bend the brackets ever so slightly to line it up. The other is that my volume knob is gritty. I don't know why.

Can't wait, mine should be in on Friday. Hopefully the USB and antenna cable come in at same time.

Thanks for the observations, I'm also very demanding of electronics and speed is one of the most import things to me.

Just one question, how's the boot up time? I haven't kept up with the Android head units, but something that always concerned me was the rather lengthy start up times.

The bootup time is acceptable but not amazing. It takes about 20-30 seconds. I suppose by Android standards this is pretty quick. I think my Nexus 6P takes longer. The nice thing is that while it's booting, your reverse camera still has priority and can take control of the screen immediately at power-on.

Pardon my ignorance on the subject, but just looking to get something cleared up. When the unit is getting the data for the apps does the phone have to be in hotspot? Just need to take it in consideration if it does, since have a limited amount of data.

you could always use your WiFi from home in the driveway. I mostly do that. Rarely use the phone as hot spot anymore.

For apps like Google maps, Waze, and Spotify hotspot is required I'm assuming correct?

Yes and no. Streaming music of course you'd need internet. I moved over to sd cards and listen to music locally now to save on data. As for maps you could always download for offline use. Google maps allows you to download for offline. Not sure about Was was I don't use it. There's another app called Here Maps that is made for offline as well.

Down side to offline maps is just not having traffic data all the time If you need it.

What's the size limit on SD cards? Is there anything I have to do to get video playback to work?
