Have you checked out a 15 or 16 Genesis coupe? The R Spec or even the base with the 3.8 is a pile of car for the money. Not a sedan but has a usable back seat. These things have come a long way in the last few upgrades.

yep driving a frs/brz back to back with a genesis was depressing (frs felt so much more like a drivers car) but that aside they are good cars for the money.

Agreed when driven back to back but the last couple of years have been good to the Genny. They keep it up and it will soon be back on my short list for trade in time in a few few more years. It is also not an apples to apples comparison since it is more a GT car than a "sports car".

I'm only a month behind you - my lease is up in August. I just got the reminder card in the mail last night: "Please let us help you with your next Subaru"...

If I was going to have a single, year round car, I'd seriously consider a 2016/2017 WRX. I drove one last year and found the steering a bit disappointing but otherwise I liked it well enough. I've also considered a Golf R, which has the enormous advantage of being a hatchback and has a really nice interior, though for a chunk more change.

As it is, I'm planning on the wife and I becoming a three car couple. I'm thinking another 08-10 WRX hatch, but with King springs and Gorilla spacers, as my winter beater. Then next spring, buy something fun for the summer like a 987 Cayman S.

I would look into Focus RS, but I am not sure they will be available by July when your lease is up.

There will be a huge price hike here in Canada since they are only bringing in a few. Pretty much all the ones being brought in to the dealers within an hour of me are already reserved. I am told (by a dealer) that they are only looking at around 2,000 for the whole country so anybody that wants one will have to be quick.

Yeah I replied after only reading first page...

I am just so interested in that car that I keep projecting it on every thread...

It is currently the forerunner on my trade in list for 2019. If they still make them and I can get one that is. I almost bought the ST (I do not have the forum FWD bias) just before I stumbled across the FRS so the RS sounds great.
I live in Canada and have no issues with RWD!

I've sat in the Genesis couple back seat, and it is actually worse (from a head room standpoint) than the Twins.

Hmmm... TSX (first gen) 6spd?

The consensus seems to be WRX.... and I certainly think that it could be the right answer (at least until the family situation and financial situation allows for a fun car and a family car).
The good thing about a lease is, if I really like the car, I could buy it (or one like it), but I also have the option to hand the keys back.

I love STI, but I didn't get it, I got WRX Limited with all goodies (and Short Shifter) which was only $3000 short of Launch Edition STI at the time. Resale is very important when leasing since you are paying depreciation plus interest from new to end of lease term. Guaranteed Ford will have higher depreciation percentage. Plus its much more expensive, and in short supply which means most likely higher interest rate applied. Im going to bet it will be less dependable too. Dont get me wrong, if I had the budget I would consider the RS, but not without test driving and researching reviews crom previous years in Europe.

The brakes on the WRX are same quality as the twins but the car is 550 lbs heavier. If it is such an issue, get aftermarket pads and DOT 4 fluid like I have in my FR-S and live with the squeaking.

Steering boost feels same as twins except quick turn ratio of twins reserved for STI only.

WRX is a performance oriented practical car. Dark, sounds like you should have gotten an STI. LOL.
