Yah I had a kid pull in front my my bike and total it. A week later my insurance company cut me a check for $7,000 to cover the bike and just got it from the other insurance company. You pay for their service. Use it...

i called my insurance the following day and reported the incident, as well as their insurance. which i just found out lapsed because they didn't pay. so they have no insurance and i am stuck. i can either go through my own insurance or just pay out of my own pocket.

unfortunately they no longer had insurance at the time of them hitting me. how they are not fined or worse is beyond me.
sorry to hear about your situation but at least you were lucky to get it resolved. i am stuck either paying out of pocket or going through my own insurance now. Quote:

On the high deductible - you got bit gambling on your own policy coverage limits and such. Sucks, but hopefully it's still a better deal than just paying out of pocket. If it's not, just pay up and work with your lawyer. |

Yeah. It amazes me how inconsiderate some people are. What's even worse is after the police found the guy there were no visible signs of the accident on his car (it was a Jeep Wrangler with a grill guard up front so I'm sure he was able to clean it up good) and didn't change him with anything. Anywho good luck with your repairs, I'm sure your car will be as good as new, and good call on the custom part insurance. |

i will be filing the small claim this week. i just need to decide whether to go through my own insurance or pay out of pocket to fix my car. winning a judgement is one thing, but collecting is another. in PA i can't garnish their wages. i can try and lien the vehicle if they don't pay.
I went to the DA office in philly and tried to get them arrested, but in Philly driving without insurance is just a $300 ticket. I talked with a police officer about giving her a ticket but you can't retroactively give someone a ticket. even if i have video evidence. i will forward the car information and no insurance information to the DMV and they should suspend their registration and insurance. ![]() I was thinking the 'no insurance' deal would simply be more helpful to getting a win, but you're right about actually getting paid. Have you tried reaching out to them directly? Cutting them some slack may work in your favor, if they pay up without the hassle of court, etc. C |
