@wbradley, amirite?
Thankfully never needed the stuff. Cant imagine deriving joy from fibre supplements LOL
Went to a strip joint with a bunch of coworkers a while ago. The boss was expounding the joy of regular Metamucul use. Later he excused himself and confided he had a first, left a big deposit in a strip club washroom. So, between our group we left several thousand dollars plus the bosses deposit LOL.

It really isn't surprising that so many older guys had British sports cars since they were really the only affordable ones brought over for a long time. Then the Japanese invaded and that was the end of them.
Isn't that a Vauxhall Viva? How did you get one of those, or were you in the UK for a while?

Opel GT was a sexy looking car. TR7 was interesting, the TV commercial where it drove into a wedge shaped trailer. The 1800 ES Volvo was nice, more of a professor or doctor's car. Sort of a more upscale Karmann Ghia. The 264 Volvo sedan was also a teacher/doctor/professor intellectual car to me.

The piece du resistance for me was when there was a white Toyota 2000 GT parked down the street from my house in the mid seventies. I never forgot that car. And a neighbours friend had a red Maserati Merak in those years.

What the hell man, have you never watched Top Gear????

Funnily enough, my first ever car in the UK was a 1980 orange Talbot Avenger - license plate THP 371W, funny how you remember that stuff - that looks somewhat similar to the Marina, even down to the shitty orange/brown paint job and brown vinyl roof. Crows, or Magpies (can't remember) destroyed my lovely brown roof so I had it redone in black vinyl.

BRZ or WRX, can't decide...

Great read, I needed this today...I'm 54 and have been undecided between purchasing the BRZ or the WRX for several weeks now. I've test driven both, but reading this today is pushing me toward the BRZ...I think. While the AWD of the WRX is tempting for a Chicago driver. I'm looking for this to be my daily driver year round, the WRX is still kinda boring looking, while the BRZ is so much sportier looking and snow tires in the winter are fine with me...Can't decide. Grrr.
BTW, here's my classic in the garage, a 1968 Datsun roadster

update: finally found & purchased a BRZ

They made an attempt top break into Canada back in the early 60s. They failed but there were still a few around for really cheap in the 70s when I starting getting cars. I didn't have it long when I discovered that parts were impossible to get. Now you could go online and have them in a few days but back then it could take months to get things like plug wires or a distributer cap.

I was in the same predicament last year and pulled the trigger on a BRZ. I was worried too that winter would be a challenge but I can now say that there is no doubt in my mind that choosing the BRZ was the best decision I could have made. A good set of winter tires made this winter uneventful in a good way.

Oh, I'm 52 for the record. Life is too short for sane decision cars.
