I have never tried soy sauce. What does it taste like? Other than soy sauce that is.

Flavor town.

It's salty and savory.

Decent replacement for table salt on *most* dishes.

Any asian supermarkets close by or in town? Go pick up a very tiny bottle and try it out for your self, maybe next time you have eggs for breakfast.

Other supermarkets may carry soy sauce but have a markup on it, usually a dollar more. I know Safeway does!

Really? Oh I may like that then. What can it go on other than rice? (These are not jokes)

Add a little bit to meat. Any kind of meat. I don't ever use it on rice, actually. I usually add it in as part of a marinade/sauce for meats. The low-sodium kind is a little more forgiving if you're just trying it for the first time, because there is such a thing as too much soy sauce.

Oh OK eggs it is then! @Talus1 - Do we have an "Asian Market" in London? I would guess the north east end of the city?

What jawn said. Anything low sodium would probably be best.

Personally, I don't like the low sodium soy sauce. Also, there's a few brands I've tried that has gone down the drain.

I think this is available all over the world, and is one of the best.

The red cap is the good one. Green cap is low sodium.

I've never tried it on eggs. Sceptical.
I use it on rice and as seasoning in sauces and curries, with fried fish, in marinade for chicken, etc. And sushi, of course.

Start with a few tiny drops. It's very concentrated and one small bottle is enough for many, many meals.

That was actually my next question. Is there real and fake? Will look for that one.
However, from your list, the only thing I would use it on is chicken. I do not eat any of those other things (yet)

A few other staples:

Sriracha sauce

HP sauce

Worcestershire sauce

Blend those 3 with soy sauce and anything will taste good :-)

You don't eat fried fish? Anyway, yeah, great substitute for salt with chicken.

I wouldn't say fake, but there are some variants that smells and tastes like mouldy socks.

I hate fish!

Moldy sock would not be good.
